Marzocchi, it's over!

I heard about Marzocchi going broke last year.  I think their fiasco with their electronic semi-active rear shocks that had to be recalled on thousands of ($$$) 2014 BMW R1200RT models, put them under due to a manufacturing error.  The RT had been introduced just a few months before when a shock shaft broke and all of the new owners were advised not to ride their bikes until the shock assembly (which cost something like $2500 each) could be replaced.  The owners were offered a replacement loaner, $2500 cash while their bike was sitting, or BMW would buy the bike back for what the owner paid for it. Bikes that were having their shocks replaced with a new assembly had to be picked up by a shipping company and taken to the dealer for installation of the replacement shock.  Apparently Marzocchi got socked with all of these costs and that likely resulted in them going broke and having to shut their doors.

BMW has now switched to Sachs shocks and forks for their motorcycles using their ESA semi-active electronic adjustment system starting in 2015.
