Title: Anyone Interested in Fairings?
Post by: Squid on September 08, 2010, 06:45:00 AM
I myself struggle with excessive wind pressure.  As much as I love the look of bikini fairings -- well, certain ones, anyway -- I think the full fairing is my preference.  Hey, maybe it'd increase overall efficiency, too.

When I asked BrammoBrian about the handlebar change (via email) he hinted at the possibility of either an optional bikini fairing or full fairing (read post here (http://fullempulse.com/joe-public-asks-brammo-answers/)).  The full fairing on the RR makes use of the current prototype's low set clip-on handles, so since it looks like Brammo is changing to a higher handlebar, I'd put my money on the bikini type.

I would be interested in a half fairing,i want to duck out of the wind when needed
but i want to show its  bay of batteries. Its a very neat looking bike I was attracted
by looks of the Empulse first. Later I found out more about the power plant and that was even better.
I dont want to hide the power plant under a full  fairing. The bike  has a gr8 wow whats that factor! ::)
I've always been a fan of the racier looks of sport bikes.

The rr shows half the pack. With a few mods you could easy have the rr fairings and still show the whole pack...

I just wanted to weigh in on the fairings discussion, because it's something I feel pretty strongly about.  Brammo has done some incredible engineering with these EV bikes, and somehow matched it with a near-perfect aesthetic.  I'm not sure how they got so lucky in the design and engineering departments...

I am completely bias because I have been riding streetfighters and cafe racers my whole life.  I love them.  They stand out amount the endless seas of Gixers and CBRs.  Please do not cover up the one thing that sets these bikes apart.  The batteries are beautiful on the Empulse.  The frame design is unlike anything on the road.  A water cooled electric motor?  These things are one of a kind.  Let's not cover it up.  Streetfighters are about distilled performance.  They are no fills, no nonsense, purely functional racing machines.  Put fairings all over it, and it's going to get lost.  Boring!  Having the wind in your face is what riding is about.

I'll buy into the "tank", - something has to cover up the electronics I guess - but you could even lose the tail fairing.  What is it good for anyway?  Show off what makes the Empulse special.  90% of us are here because the Empulse caught our eye

Oh, its electric?  Cool!

I would like to see optional bolt-on windshields and fairings that could be added to the bike after purchase when you have some real-world experience with the vehicle and can better decide what fits your riding needs.

Exactly, the power plant, motor and frame design make the Empulse stand out. It's a unique bike, I wouldn't want to cover mine up. And yes I miss the wind in my face, that's why I'm getting back to riding, it was either this or a convertible sports car. This seems like a slightly more sensible option in my head :D

Agreed!

Wasn't there anybody that could have helped this guy pull his hand out of the brake light?

I'd probably go for the 'naked' look myself, but a little optional flyscreen, like the ORIGINAL suzuki katana had, would be really cool:

I'm also a fan of the mid-90's ducati 900ss:

One of my personal favorites is the Buell xb-series lighning; if I get the empulse, I may end up doing something like this to it, although I do REALLY like the headlight they're currently using.

I think the full-fairing they've designed for the Empulse racer is really quite nice; better than many full fairings out there right now.
