Brammo Empulse / Re: V78 - Real Time Clock Not Working
« on: August 14, 2019, 09:55:18 PM »
Since this message/code set I have tried to reset my clock 2 or 3 times. This last time I reset it, it stopped setting this code. It will probably return but I did take my display off (at some point in the past 3 months and <300 miles) and put a healthy dose of dielectric grease on it. I haven't put a full charge on it in a week when the code stopped displaying so we'll see.

but I have had no other issues with this bike *"since I bought it" (I've posted about my charging controller issues before on this forum). And I would hardly describe this as an issue. KEEP RIDING!

Just had this message come up.
Has anyone fixed it or even taken apart the vcm or I think more likely the cluster to see?

Exactly... The words of my local motorcycle salesman are about as reliable as my 1965 Honda motorcycle 😂

Let's just hope we can help each other out.

Incredible response. Thank you.
You wouldn't know the type (ethylene glycol vs. propylene glycol) would you?

Brammo Empulse FAQ / Re: Empulse (R) replacement parts
« on: September 19, 2017, 04:24:47 PM »
I just replaced my spare key I don't know the model of the Aprilla it was off of but apparently Ducati and other italian motorcycle use ZADI. The interesting part is when I went to get it cut the lock smiths where doubtful it would work (chip / RFID in the old key) but it did.

As I'm learning in an automotive class right now topping off with water will only reduce your freezing point, so I would start with that especially if its stored in a garage for winter. I too would like to know if anyone has drained or filled the coolant. What was in there originally?

I just went to my local aprilla dealership (zadi is a very common italian key company) and they matched the key and I got it cut across the street, every step of the way they were telling me theres a chip in the new and old key so it will likely need to be programed, turns out that was not the case, put it in and it "fired" right up. I'm so glad I didn't have to replace the whole ignition cylinder to have two keys.

Brammo Empulse / Re: Battery drained, now not charging
« on: November 16, 2016, 02:39:51 AM »
I have found 20w high voltage fuses (similar to the ones you describe *Ceramic fuses? as in the wires that lead to the charging controller) at Homedepot for microwaves apparently.... anyhow you can test a fuse that cannot be visually inspected with a $10 voltmeter just check it for resistance or continuity.

{I had a bad charging controller and went through hell to get the dealer to find a new one **if this is your problem (I'd say it could be the batteries being drained beyond charging  ... warranty?) evolve electronics in Boulder Colorado sells our charging controller and will test them for a fee...}

I feel I may be adding more complication to the issue than solutions so as much as I hate to say it ... with the winter season coming and their stock down maybe let polaris/victory take a swing at it..   :/      can't say my experience was pleasant.

Hope this helps and congrats on the new addition!

Pretty cool, nothing as exciting as home builds. 5 E-Motorcycles total, 3 from unique rides (zero dealer), a guy and his wife and his zero SR (I believe) and me  ;D
I was excited to see all the Tesla's and Coda's opened up, I learned a lot about the leaf. It was my first time seeing a BMW I3 close up as well. There were a fair share of Prius's, Volts, and other hybrids. I am not sure if we made it to 82 or 83 but just short of the goal of 100.

I am taking the charging controller to evolve electrics in boulder today to get it tested.
