Other solution could be removing the VCU and use the Sevcon as stand alone motor controller.
I believe the VCU just triggers Sevcon, besides all battery BMS, battery warmer and motor cooling.
That way we could use any battery Available with a autonomous BMS.
The charger is highly programmable.

well I know you can build one.

look around in the endless sphere forums.

I have one in mind to build with 2170 cells.
have already done some calculations and some CAD 3D modelling.
going for 28s28p 10Ah cells (110 volt nominal at 280A at 1C so 30KW of power)
that's around 16kWh

the BMS will be the challenge.

it will all fit in the existing battery cases.

Cool!
I would love to do it but I don't have the knowledge or skills.
If you keep the original connections (BMS, Temperature Sensors, Moister Sensors and Cell heaters, it should be able to work.

Can you share your project?

And where can you get the new module?@cuttysark76.
Directly from brammo or victory.
I live in belgium Europe, so we have very limited support here.
Or maybe the new battery pack from the new victory empulse tt,but that is just 1kw more.
...
I'm also in Europe, Portugal and here I assure you won't get any support also
You are closer to the main support provider in Germany.
I ordered my parts from a former Brammo Importer, from Spain (Nex or Next), specifically, from a former mechanic that still owns some of their stock.

Though I didn't receive it yet...

Hi all

Does anybody of you know if it is possible  to upgrade the battery pack of our empulse to a new bigger/stronger one.    Maybe one from zero since they are in the same voltage range as the brammo.

I have a bad module that I’m going to replace for a new one.
Meanwhile, I’m going to send the malfunctioning module to a battery expert in order to check if it’s possible to repair/update cells.

I believe we can put 120 18650 cells inside each module and using 3500mah cells, in a 4s30p schema, we can theoretically rise the module capacity from 90Ah to 105Ah.

Brammo Empulse / Re: Empulse software and cables

Let's start a topic where we could share our findings on the software and cables side.

I start with this : https://mega.nz/#F!V6J1nArS!siHe7eJkhPL-9cjuYVa7cQ
There is battery diagnostic tools, Motor Controller Software (alignment of encoder and error codes reading) and some manuals. There is also the wiring diagram for the different cables. I have all the parts required to build the battery cable but haven't found the time to build it yet.

Don't brick your bike !

Thanks! I have a module with problems. I need to start evaluating solutions to repair my Brammo

What kind of information are you hoping to get out of the battery?

The Battery Diag will let you know what module or modules need assistance (B9 Error).

If you don’t have any “official “ assistance you should look for your local Brammo community.
Certainly someone have it.

There’s also a thread in the forum for a custom made Diagnostic Tool.

The problem is the VCU/BMS/Sevcon....

Hello!
The B9 error means that you have a difference in the humidity between modules (I believe above 30%).
To solve this, you need to change the sensors, if damaged, or open the modules and dry them.
Nevertheless, you need to connect the bike to the Battery Diagnostic Tool in order to check the problem.

Brammo Empulse / Aftermarket Battery
« on: May 03, 2019, 07:31:50 AM »
Last time I did my Brammo maintenance, the Doctor connected the Battery to the Diagnostics Tablet and something left me wonder... With the bike turned on and Diagnostic Tablet connected to the battery, there was no communication between the battery and VCU, but my Brammo was still working with a generic and incorrect SOC info... I didn't drive the Brammo though, because the Tablet was borrowed and it was a favor…
Is it possible to bypass everything just with a simple connector?
Anyone available to try it?
