Brammo Empulse / Re: Cooling system
« on: September 09, 2016, 10:35:21 AM »
Yes, 125C is way too hot! Sounds like a pump problem. I wouldn't run it at those temps as electrical components in motors don't like heat and can be permanently ruined.
There is also a fuse for the cooling loop...check that?

Brammo Empulse / Re: Empulse TT rear wheel compatibility

Any update on this?

Has anyone tried to used forged Magnesium wheels?
I have my wheel and a few other of the emoto racers have pulled of the swap.  The sum of the story is you need to get ALL of the rear wheel parts listed on the victory service page, (wheel, cush drive asy, bearings, spacers etc).  You can get the bearing for the cush drive outside  (xbl 5206-2rs) it's cheaper.  All in a bit over 500$ for the rear wheel swap which (for racing) isn't bad considering the weight save.

For most of your controls and pegs Woodcraft can help you out.  There are also several build threads out there from some of us in the emoto serries.  Feel free to holler at me if you have any questions.

Any updates on this modification?
I ran it at NOLA and at gingerman.  Not perfect but it does seem to give me an extra lap or so before thermal cutback.

Brammo Empulse / Re: Oil leak
« on: June 01, 2016, 05:20:00 AM »
The Oil isn't that black actually,
I only got 3900 km's on the bike and changed the oil for the first time on 2000 km's.
So I did 1900 km's without any problems with the new oil.
I really hope it won't be a big problem and get back on the road.

I read the note and put the plastic cover back on didn't touch anything!  ;)
Drove it slowly to the dealer without changing gears.

There is one thread from FreepZ and it looks like he had the same issue.
I left him a message, maybe he knows what needs to be fixed.
Been talking with some people and we're thinking maybe the shaft seal on the clutch side.  There have historically been issues with the shift mechanism leaking too.  Best of luck and please post findings!

Hi fellow empulse owners.

Yesterday I found some oil on the garage floor.
I found the leak but it seems to come from the engine.
It leaks between a rubber seal at the bottom of the engine.
If I remove the plastic cover i can see it clearly.

Has anybody experienced the same issue?

I brought the empulse to the dealer, I hope they can fix this quickly!
I haven't Seen this on mine however I'm pretty sure shouldn't actually be oil in your motor as it is cooled via a "water" jacket.  The oil in question is mainly for your transmission and clutch.  There could potentially be a leak between the clutch end (rider's right) and the motor housing.  Just spittballing here.

Side note, that oil is quite black.

Other side note, they really mean it when they say don't touch the feedback device under the yellow sticker.

They could be crazier than I thought and have oil in the air gap  (between the rotor and stator) but I didn't think they did.

I would love to see a low torque / high regen mode for maximizing range. How complicated is the procedure for making these adjustments? Also can you adjust throttle response?
You can adjust throttle response but that doesn't get rid of the driveline backlash.

Updated eco mode to 90% torque (about the original sport mode) and 0 regen in preparation for Road America in the event my hot mode runs too hot there.

Sport mode still has 12% regen.

Brammo Empulse / Re: Wrecked my Empulse R
« on: April 25, 2016, 09:32:45 AM »
I just walked into my local Victory dealer and asked for a part that Victory has listed on their website (http://www.victorymotorcycles.com/en-us/shop/accessories/frame-sliders/pid-2881606).  Still waiting for them to come in after 2 weeks.
Make sure you double check their service parts, they had the front wheel spacer listed in the rear wheel assembly, hopefully corrected now.  Additionally the wheel items were on back order.

My 2013 Empulse R has passed 6,000 miles, so it's time to make a service appointment.  The company that had been Brammo's local authorized service center, Seattle E-Bike, referred me with no explanation to the local Victory dealership, Lynnwood Motoplex.

Today I paid them a visit and learned the following:

* Yes, they have an Empulse TT in stock, having pride of place in their Victory/Indian showroom near the window looking nice in red, but otherwise quite similar to the Empulse R we know.  Pictures to follow.
* No, they've not sold even one yet.
* They were surprised to see someone show up with an Empulse they hadn't sold themselves.
* They were doubly surprised that I'd bought it used (http://brammoforum.com/index.php?topic=2550.0).
* They think they can service my Empulse R, but they would need equipment and information specific to that model because of its differences from the TT.
* To get that equipment and information might take a couple of weeks.
* They estimate the labor cost alone would be $600.  My 3,000-mile service appointment cost closer to $300, so this estimate seems a little high, even if the extra work for the 6k service is to replace the brake fluid and suspension oil.

How have your service appointment experiences been?  Have you had your Brammos serviced by Victory technicians yet?  Did they charge you reasonable prices compared to your Brammo authorized technicians?
+1 on the 600$ being ridiculous.  I did a post on the suspension change and consulted with my suspension guru who helps me with my race setup and the Marzocchi owners manual indicates that fluid change is not needed until 15kmi.  (BTW you may have more luck at a Ducati dealer for those forks if you decide to do them)

The oil can be a bit of a pain and I understand if you don't want to mess with it/ other fluids but I've had much less grief doing everything myself.

Brammo Empulse / Re: Front Wheel Replacement
« on: March 10, 2016, 08:23:34 AM »
California freeway pothole got my front wheel today. A light pucker in the rim. Tire still holds air. But I really don't want to mess around with cast aluminum, at least on a front wheel.

Anybody know how to specify our specific 17" x 3.5" Marchesini wheel? And a good place for purchase?

Marchesini website has a configurator, but, surprise, doesn't include Brammo!
The victory website has replacement wheels in their service section.  The front wheel should be common (the rear changes).

I haven't tested it yet but I'm pretty sure the 160 rear will fitt too.

Cleaned up my charge box and cables.  Original charger cooling fans have been mounted in the charge box.
