Just go ensure some closure on my question: The R&G bolts that shipped with my crash bungs had a 1mm thread pitch, and the frame was tapped for a 1.5mm thread pitch. I ordered some replacement bolts, and the fit like a charm.

I just got a set of these, and am struggling to install them on my Empulse R 2014 (which is what they are labelled for on the box). The bolt that they  mount on goes about 5mm or so in and then I hit quite heavy friction so don't want to press on less I thread the hole. Any tips on fitting them?

bought in 2017, commuting in hoogeveen, netherlands and loving every ride. Replaced dc-dc converter recently, runs fine now ;D

Nice - all black all the time :D

Two questions: How do you find the screen?

Also, which frame sliders do you have? I'm looking to get some for mine.

Trip Reports / General photo thread - show us who's still out there!

I thought I'd try to kick off a generic photo thread for people to share their Brammo/Victory bikes of any form - I'm sure there must still be a few out there on the road! Here's a pic I took of mine yesterday after a chilly early start:

As mentioned otherwhere, it was off the road for a while for various reasons, but I'm back out using it again. A bit late in the season, but glad to have the smiles back.

Brammo Empulse / Re: 2013 Brammo Empulse complete battery disassembly

Thanks for posting those - very interesting, as some day I suspect we'll all need to go through what you're going through. It was interesting to see the heating element in there too - whilst I know that some systems will proactively heat the batteries (or even pre-heat if plugged in), I didn't realise the Brammo's cells did that.

I'm not a battery expert, but I hang out in a bunch of maker forums so I've started sharing your album with them to see if if sparks any ideas from someone more battery savy.

Brammo Empulse / How to lift the front wheel (when static :)
« on: October 16, 2021, 09:51:14 AM »
I took my Brammo in for the MOT (a UK mandatory annual road worthiness test). One of the checks they do is they lift both the wheels (one at a time) to check that the wheels don't drop off and that on the front the steering is free. The rear is easy enough, as you can put it on a paddock stand for the test. But the front you need to be able to turn the handle bars. The mechanic and I in the end did some dubious counter weighting on the back, as we couldn't find a place to put the jack to lift the front.

In the service manual it says that you can lift the bike on a jack, but it doesn't specify where. Any tips for a safe point at the front to lift the back in such a way? Happy to remove panels etc. to get to it, I just don't want to put the weight on something I shouldn't.

Brammo Empulse / Re: Unused connector on left controls?

Don't worry it doesn't go anywhere.  It's some stuff Brammo left on there.

Thanks! I'll tie it out of the way so it's less obvious :)

Brammo Empulse / Unused connector on left controls?
« on: October 03, 2021, 11:34:32 AM »
After a while parked up, I've got my Brammo back on the road. One thing I've noticed that I never noticed before is that on the left hand controls I have a 3 pin connector that is unused just sitting there. Does anyone know what this is for? I had a look at the wiring diagram, but I couldn't spot anything that seemed to match. I've attached a picture.

It could be that it was tied back better before - I did have to have the handle bars replaced due to dropping the bike, and the weight bending the bars.

Brammo Empulse / Re: Motor squeal on acceleration

Well, a week on, and I've not managed to reproduce the issue, so perhaps it was just that it was a little low on oil that was causing the issue.

Thanks to everyone for the advice!

Oh good idea, how did the magnet on the drain plug look?

It was a little furry with filings, but not massively so. I have to confess I've never done an oil change before this one, so I've no idea what normal is, but I guess I'd expect a little bit of filings build up over a couple of thousand miles since the last change?

I must confess, I don't find the gearbox on the Brammo to be the smoothest unit I've experienced, so I was a bit worried I'd find worse :)

There's a filter?

The filter was in a funnel I ran the old oil through after to check for detritus :)

Finally got everything together to do an oil change. The bike was a bit low on oil it turns out, down to about 700ml, rather than the 1 litre recommended in the service manual (this is a 2014 bike). There were some small filings on the plug and in the filter, but nothing major that fell out (in the picture the bigger blob is actually some filings, and squishes when pressed, so no big metal bits).

I took it for a small run post oil change and I didn't hear any issues, however it's a very small sample so I'll take it out for a longer run tomorrow.

Thanks everyone for the advice!

The bike is at 4.5K miles, so is halfway between services. It was done by (what happens to be) a polaris dealership, so I assume the correct fluid was used. But given that's an easy thing to do, then I'll check the levels tomorrow.

Many thanks,

To try and help give a better description, I went out with a go pro. The audio isn't great, but you can make out the squealing noise as I pull off a couple of times.

Brammo Empulse / Motor squeal on acceleration
« on: May 25, 2018, 12:05:34 PM »
Hi there,

I'm getting a squeal occasionally if I accelerate assertively (e.g., during an overtake), sounds to me like it's coming from the motor. It's not consistent, but it is disconcerting when it happens - usually I back off and it stops and if I apply speed more gently things are fine.

If I was to make an uneducated guess it sounds like something is rubbing that shouldn't, but it's hard to say.

Anyone else had an issue like this?

All the best,

-- Michael
