Off Topic / Using you battery pack as a powerwall?
« on: July 19, 2023, 06:45:05 AM »
Has any one done this yet? or dabbled in it?

I noticed that the micro solarpanel inverters have the right specs to make it possible.
but how to wire everything up?

I'm thinking about swithing the micro inverter and the bike charger dependend on battery state and solar production/power usage.
keeping between 20% and 80% charge state.

Ideas?

« on: October 24, 2021, 01:18:57 PM »
Vehicle To Grid/home empulse could it be done?

Motor cycles are most of the time parked in their garage.
wouldn't it be wonderfull if we can still use the battery in the mean time?

so VTG Empulse could it be done?

Brammo Empulse / Grinding / ratteling noise while accelerating hard.
« on: March 28, 2020, 10:36:05 AM »
What could it be?
-gears from the transmission?
-bearings from the motor?
-bearings from the rear wheel?
-cogging from the motor?

chain kit has been swapped already and doesn't make a diffrence.

bike runs oke-ish.

« on: January 13, 2020, 10:18:09 AM »
I went and gone ahead to order parts for a new set off front and rear sprockets and a new chain.

Front sprocket: JTF1314
Rear sprocket: Supersprox 43T  (this is bigger than the original 38T)
Chain: D.I.D 525 VX3 gold.

(I will update this post with pictures of the materials and progress. Maybe even a video!)

Brammo Empulse Mods / Tires
« on: October 25, 2019, 12:33:26 PM »
This week I fitted my first new set of tires on my Empulse R

I went for the Bridgestone T31

I love them!

They are a bit rounder and it's steering like a knife (dutch expression)
Very noticable at round-abouts and sharp corners.

I already had these tires on mij Yamaha diversion 900 and never had any "strange" things with them.

Brammo Empulse Mods / Battery case size
« on: March 25, 2019, 08:44:53 AM »
For a future modification I would like to know wat the space/size is that's being occupied by the cells them self.
and what the inside volume is of the battery box.

with luck the future may hold DC fast charging and about 14kWh for my empulse when current cells start to die.

Brammo Empulse / C3 sysytem fault (battery interlock open) and low mains
« on: October 07, 2018, 04:26:30 AM »
Last friday I got the C3 fault on my bike when want in to commute home.
was at 80% SOC so I still made it home with very conservative riding.

I delved into the log files and saw module 5 going off first so I suspect that BMS from generating the fault.
I also noticed that the charger had a low mains warning at the same time.
No other strange or unexpected things in the files otherwise.

the C3 error is not present anymore in later log files so I guess that cleared itself.

But... the bike will still not charge. It will start up the sequence but at the point where normaly the Amps would ramp up (charging begining) it doesn't :o

Any one has any idea how to tackle this problem?
Do I have to to close the interlock somehow?
What does low mains mean?

Brammo Empulse FAQ / prepping for wet conditions
« on: September 21, 2018, 07:26:03 AM »
So, today my first failed commute in heavy rain.

Besides getting soaked myself, the Empulse didn't fare well either.

The high beam light on the dash came on and stayed on. Headlight it self functioned normaly so not a real problem.

Now put the bike on the charger and got the B9 error code.
(other topics on this forum cover this already)
I quess a couple of dry days in the garage will solve this for now.

the question is:
How do you waterproof your Empulse?

Brammo Empulse / Dutch Riders email group
« on: July 25, 2018, 03:08:28 PM »
In battling the diffilculty we have that we are left without dealerships and therefore service points.
I'm trying to build an Email database for dutch speaking Empulse owners.
This to help each other and to share knowledge.
Eventually maybe a group buy of software and hardware to solve programming and driver problems or even upgrading our bikes.

If you would like to join you can leave you Email adress or ohter way to reach you in a PM to me.

Met vriendelijke groet,
Leander

Brammo Empulse / Hot hot hot
« on: July 16, 2018, 03:37:18 PM »
Well, 36C according to the air temp sensor.

After driving for about 50km at 120km/h and some quick passes of slower traffic
I noticed a message in my display: NO REGEN, BATTERY TOO HOT.
Since I was cruising down the highway I had nowhere to just pull over.
I decided to slow down a bit to give the batteries some rest.
The message didn't disappear and the regen function didn't come back.
Almost home I stopt in the shade and turned the bike off and on agian.
Problem solved.
Bit strange that is doesn't correct it self when the temp is low enough.
on the other hand having no regen let me experience how good the brake are :)

« on: July 13, 2018, 08:38:30 AM »
If found some coolant dripping from the motor.

it comes from under the cover at te left side and becomes obvious when you put it on the kickstand after riding.
don't think this is normal, is it?
