Hello, it did cost me around 400$-500$ including everything so it was not bad that way. They said that this problem is likely to reoccur since it was only a temporary fix that they could perform and ideally the unit should've been replaced under warranty if they were really available from Polaris. What do u plan to do now?
Honestly, i moved to the Zero camp now as i auctioned off the Empulse  :)

Any idea if the BMS on the Empulse can accept CAN commands?
If not then Elcon mentions that they could add a simple on off switch based on the max voltage limit.

The max voltage of the pack is 117.6, which means max voltage per cell is 4.2V?
Do you guys think this could work?

Thanks

Sorry I can't help but 3300 watts isn't that like the stock onboard charger?
Yes it is, but the output DC current max is 24-25Amps. The 3300W Elcon TC charger i believe has a higher output current. We could either combine 2 3.3kW chargers or get one of their 6.6kW chargers. I think we could charge at 64A output current. Thats atleast 2.5 times faster than the current onboard charger.

Because there are multiple 3.7 volt 10 Ah cells in parallel in a stack which increases the total amp hours of the stack.  The 28 stacks are then connected in series to get the 103.6 nominal output voltage.
Aah yes, this makes sense. I think now i understand the numbers to know how it makes upto 10400W battery capacity.

From all the battery specs for the Empulse TT i read online:
BATTERY CAPACITY 10.4 kWh
BATTERY VOLTAGE 103.6V / 117.6V (max)

And all articles indicate that the battery is a pouch cell design. So what i'm not able to understand is how we end up with the 10.4kWh number for the final capacity. Any thoughts?

A 3300 Kw charger would need a semi to haul it!  As to your questions, and this applies to the Brammo Empulse as the Victory Empulse battery is slightly different.  The battery is a pouch cell design with Li[NiCoMn]O2 chemistry.  The battery is comprised of 28 cell "stacks" of 3.7 nominal voltage 10 AH cells giving you a nominal pack voltage of 103.6.  Stored energy is 9.31 kWh nominal, 10.2 kWh max.  The battery is Brammo model BPM 15/90.  Hope this helps.
Haha yes my bad. Its a 3300W charger. In a previous post from user Protomech:

10.4 kWh is indeed a decent bump in capacity. I suspect this is with a 28s10p battery using the same 10Ah cells.

I contacted Elcon TC to get a pre-programmed charger for the Empulse and they got back to me requesting for the following information:

Quote
Please confirm the information below so that we can set the charger accordingly. Please answer  the question below.

Please confirm that is your batteries system are LiFePo4, Lithium ion or lead acid batteries?
--
For LiFePO4 or Lithium,
1)How many cells in series of your batteries system?
--
2)Capacity of cell.
--
3)If possible, let us know the brand of cell and model.
--
4)if any special requirement.
--

Can any of you guys help me out with this info?
Also anyone tried these chargers with the Empulse (Victory or Brammo)?

@mariobelgium

Do you have more pictures of the chargers and the way the connections have been made? Based on the way you have set it up, I would be willing to make the same changes on my bike.

Thanks

Did he mention what chargers would be compatible with the Empulse?

I thought about riding to Laguna Seca also but you'd have to find a place to charge definitely for a quite a while.

Soooo I asked him about it and they said they don't have the parts to do it anymore unfortunately is what he conveyed to me.  He said something about the bike won't be beautiful anymore also and shhh I don't know if it's a secret or anything he said they will be focusing on CCS now.  He tried to sell me an Energica haha.  He said he could tell me how to install the chargers, so it leads me to believe I might be able to do it myself if I can acquire the chargers and learn how to do it.  It sounds really complicated though where the Zeroes are plug and play.   I wish I was more savvy with EVs my extent of EV modification is working with 24V ebikes and scooters pretty much.  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news it seems the ship has sailed for Diginow Supercharger upgrades I should have jumped on it when I had the chance.  Double the charging the speed would have been nice =/

He did recommend offboard charging but that kinda defeats the purpose.  I wanted a faster onboard so I can expand my riding a bit.

So, cough cough, will they be working on CCS solution which could work for Empulse too?  :D

@HadesOmega
What did Brandon have to say about a supercharger for the Empulse? I would love to hear what he said :)
I would love to go to Laguna Seca and race my Empulse there for Refuel TT sometime too.

I think i can make it to Laguna Seca from San Jose without having to stop for a charge.
(I can easily make it to SF from SJ with about 30% SOC left)

Wow this is awesome!

Just curious, what are the extra 2 chargers that you're using?

Happy to report that that the leak got fixed. The local Polaris/Indian dealership in San Jose (Spirit Motorcycles) previously had refused to take in my bike for repairs, but recently had a change in staff and the new staff were kind enough to take in my bike for a repair and fix the transmission o-ring. I believe the o-ring and the seal were removed and redone (since the parts for replacement are not available) and put back into the casing. The cast was then allowed to cure for about 48 hours and all was good to go.

So maybe if someone faces a similar issue in the future, this would be a good solution.

Victory Empulse / Belt drive conversion:
« on: June 02, 2019, 11:53:13 PM »
I have listed some points down here:

1. Is it possible? (I think yes from some basic research i did)
2. Advantages:
Weight savings, Less inertial mass for the motor to work with, Almost no maintenance, Lesser noise and also
    no drivetrain backlash maybe?
3. Disadvantages:
Expensive if belt fails, anything else?

Are my observations correct?

Also wanted to know the effort to do the conversion and do you guys think its worth it with the advantages?

Sorry, missed the new foto's.

looks the same as on the brammo empulse R.

just remove the 8 outer bolt and you can tap the motor out with no problem.
then you can disconnect the motor cables on the other side.

Do you have a service manual?
Cool. Hopefully it won’t be too difficult. I might have to get this done in a garage. So I will need to pass on the instructions to whoever will be working on this. And yes I do have a service manual. Does that have more instructions?
