Title: Reservation change?
Post by: EmpulseRider on May 15, 2012, 08:43:41 PM
I read in this article:

"If you already pre-ordered, do so again to specify which model you want. Source: Gas 2.0 (http://s.tt/1bmfr (http://s.tt/1bmfr))"

Do we really have to re-preorder? I dont believe Brammo mentioned anything to that effect.

Unless they have a way to keep your spot, that would suck for any early pre-orderer. Imagine being among the fist 50 and then being bumped back to 1,997 or something?

I think it would be much easier if they asked people to confirm the model when they asked people to put down the money for the R or confirm their intention to buy the basic model.

Exactly my thoughts. I wonder if Brammo can confirm or deny this.

I got the impression that the way that it was going to work was that when your number came up, you would be asked if you wanted an Empulse or an Empulse R. If you said "R" and sent them the down payment then your bike would be on the way. If you said "Non-R" then you name is added to the list for next year. Then in 2013 they would run through the list again, and probably offer to sell you the "R" just in case you changed your mind. Once again, if you send them the down payment, your bike would be on the way.

I'm not sure what else would be fair.

Just checked my order on the website. Reservation #628 for an Empulse 10.0 has been changed to an Empulse R.  I will be waiting for them to contact me before I change anything that might screw up my place in line. I will be, however, informing them that I do not want the R and will wait for the standard Empulse. I wonder where my spot will be in that line?

Where are you getting your order number from?
My order number is: 2010-07-20-374 so #374... but I know its much lower than 374. The last correspondence with Adrian said I was among the first 100 pre-orders, I actually thought I was 15 at one point but now I have no idea...

Update: Hmmm, an old email from Brammo says my order number is different:
"Your new order number of #2010-07-20-007 is correct"
What the heck happened??? This is after I had complained that my order number #2010-07-20-003 had been lost when thier system went down initially.

Initially I think the number format was year-month-day-(reservation # on that day). At some point it was changed to year-month-day-(reservation # overall).

I've made some inquiries about this.  Hopeful that we'll hear something soon.

Im not so sure about that either... I ordered a USB flash drive from Brammo and the order number for that was: 2011-05-05-1108... so I think they may have lumped every order into the same sequence... also, Adrian had told me that I was among the first 100 to pre-order an Empulse.

All pre orders will receive an email from Brammo in the next few days. All the US pre-orders will be processed in the sequence they were originally placed. However, if you are pre-order #1 and elect to take an Empulse in January and pre-order #2 elects to take an Empulse R that bike will clearly ship first. You can use the online system to convert an existing pre-order for a 6.0 8.0 or 10.0 to either an Empulse or Empulse R - but as I said the original sequencing is maintained. Hope that helps clarify the situation. There are currently about 1100 pre-orders in the US and since the launch another 45 people have placed pre-orders for the Empulse or Empulse R. Keep an eye on your in boxes...Adrian

This thread motivated me to dig deeper and figure out my pre-order number. #802. I wept quietly at my desk for a few minutes.

Odd, my "order number" was #1716, placed in early April, and I asked, via email, if that was my place in the queue and got a confirmation from Brammo that it was indeed my place in the queue.

Now Adrian is saying there were only about 1100 pre-orders???

I thought the first 1000 pre-orders happened within a few weeks of them opening it up and announcing the giveaway.

My initial order was #2010-08-16-009. When I go to the order site and check it now lists my order as #2010-08-16-628. It is possible that their old system counted up one for each order of the day and reset the next day. That would make my order the ninth for the day, because I doubt that only one other person ordered an Empulse between your order and mine. With their new system it is possible that the number 628 refers to the 628th order for the site overall. If this is the case then I truly have no idea where I am in the queue for an Empulse. :P

Mine went the other way.  I e-mailed Brammo to find out my order number before I realized there was a user account section of the website, and they told me I was 506 or something.  Then I found the user account section and my order is 246.  I am not sure what the disconnect is/was.

I signed into the Brammo shop to look at my pre-order. (It'is still #935.)
I noticed a few interesting things:

SKU: SKU111
Product: Brammo Empulse R
Item price: $0.00
Quantity: 1
Total: $0.00

That depends on how many Brammo can manufacture in a month. I think they are building them now. Anyone have any idea how many they can assemble per month once full production starts in July? I imagine only Brammo can really answer that question.

I'll throw a number out there. My guess is that Brammo would be able to make 8 Empulse R's a day at the Oregon factory once they get up to speed.

So 160/month .. that's not bad, that's a thousand motorcycles by the end of the year, demand permitting.

Let's say Brammo doesn't get a thousand orders for the R. Do they start selling the base Empulse once they exhaust R orders?
Title: Re: Reservation change?
Post by: EmpulseRider on May 21, 2012, 06:07:13 PM
Hmmm... well I hope they sell that many, I want Brammo to do well, but 19k is just too much for me considering my car (2012 Chevy Cruze ECO) was 20k... 17k is still out of my range but I may be able to manipulate my budget to make it work.

Wife is still not 100% on board  :-\ She is saying a deck for the back yard is more important  ::)

Just found this:
"The Empulse R will be available in June 2012 on a limited basis, and in full production between July and September 2012. The Empulse will be available during the first quarter (January to March) 2013. For more information, visit Brammo.com."

Here: http://www.justluxe.com/lifestyle/luxury-cars/feature-1771883.php (http://www.justluxe.com/lifestyle/luxury-cars/feature-1771883.php)

So it looks like we are talking about limited production run for the R...
Probably no chance of a base Empulse this year :(

It is also somewhat implied that if you want to get an Empulse R, you better buy one now?  It's sort of fuzzy on that.  Maybe it will be like the Signature Edition Tesla's, where there is only a limited number?

I logged in to have a look and mine still says:

SKU    Product    Item price    Quantity    Total
SKU11    Brammo Empulse 8.0    $0.00      1    $0.0

#575 by the way.

Am I still OK or will I be converted later due to living in Europe?

I'm converted to the Empulse R and live just North of Alkmaar.

I don't think it means much, really. Lots of people on the list aren't going to be able to foot the bill which will shorten it but is it approved by the authorities here yet? No dealers in Holland so it'll have to be an import with associated tax. I'm thinking of suggesting to Brammo to sell me an R in Dollars and I'll ship it.......share a crate?

Any news about when we are supposed to receive this email? Has anyone received an email from Brammo? I'm sure if they did it would have been posted on the forum...

Where are the riding reviews? I would think we'll see a few of these first. Launch, what launch?

It took nearly two months after Zero started shipping their 2012 bikes to paying customers before the first magazine review went online (mid-january to march 1).
http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/2012-zero-ds-review-91239.html (http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/2012-zero-ds-review-91239.html)

Granted, they probably sent out review bikes about the same time they were delivering bikes to customers.. but still expect around a four week delay.

If bikes went out early May for review then expect to see reviews in early June.

Interesting, so first deliveries around the time of first reviews.... next week then!

It was mentioned before but I can't find it - are there any bikes with reviewers yet?

I was told by Adrian at Brammo that delivers will commence late June.

It would be awesome if Brammo could follow Tesla's lead and have a video like this:

Inside Tesla 5.29.12 - Stamping on Vimeo (http://vimeo.com/43015249)

The we could:
- See some of the bike being build.
- Get an exact ship date.

Ah well, at least we have those cool Empulse videos to drool over.

That Tesla video is really cool. It looks like they have a real factory there.  Lots of robots, but maybe not so many employees.

Now when will we be seeing the Oregon Brammo factory in action? That would be very interesting.
