Welcome Forum / Re: Brammo empulse r - help a6 code
« on: March 24, 2020, 07:41:55 AM »
Hello,
Error Code A6 means
Auxiliary Input Module (AIM) is not communicating.

Could be caused by the wiring or the connectors?

Hi,
I've stored that "Enertia Diagnostics Installer" SW here:

scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Brammo Empulse / Re: BMS problems
« on: June 02, 2019, 02:30:16 PM »
It might be worth a try to do this:

Drive down to a low SoC.

Ignition on.
Press both dash buttons.
Start drive mode.

Check the Bat. Values for Low and High.

The VCU and Sevcon standby current consumption
plus the headlight etc. will drain the Bat. (after some hours) to a very low state.
Thats called "bottom balancing".

According the BMS "qualification parameters" the cells can go down to 3.0V.

Try to reach that point - or at least down to 3.3V

Last step: Charge and monitor the cells (via the dash).

Thank you.

I've used a power supply: @12,5V current draw was only 60mA.

As I've a complete set of 7 almost unused original Battery-Modules as "spare parts",
I can test them individually out off the bike in my workshop.

Interesting note:
When the temperature is below 15°C the single module itself starts to self-heating itself once the Batt diag Tool is connected.

The Tool states -3,3A current "draw" @ 15,9V Module-Voltage.

Resulting in about 50W/Module, 350W/Pack.

So the module qualification test will fail in the "current draw"  sub-test (should be between -200 / +200mA).

At 15°C and higher the test will pass.

One Remark regarding the Heating:
I've observed up to 900W Energy consumption (measured at the outlet) once the Pack will be charged at low temps and the Dash shows a full pack with no balancing at cell- or pack-level anymore.

Michael

Win10 64-bit

An automatic "driver search" has not taken place.

However, you may have to try the latest (?) SW from Victory.
Battery Diagnostic 1.0.11.41

On my Laptop "COM4" has been selected.

Hi,
the service adapter looks like this:

http://brammoforum.com/index.php?action=media;sa=media;in=428

http://brammoforum.com/index.php?action=media;sa=media;in=429

Its based on a FT232RL and a 8PIN Transceiver chip.

The schematic might be similar to that one:
https://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Documents/DataSheets/Cables/DS_USB_RS485_CABLES.pdf

PIN6 / Interlock_2/ brown wire / is connected to GND (or PIN8)
PIN5 / Interlock_1 / green wire / is somehow open or not connected, I can't find any connection to somewhere

I hope this helps

Michael

Brammo Empulse / Re: B55 Error, SOC Mismatch >30%
« on: March 12, 2019, 11:25:20 AM »
Hello,
the error-code B55 means:
„Battery fault: SOC mismatch > 30%“

Best you leave the charger connected for some hours so that the BMS can balance the Cells in Module No. 6 properly.

Check the balance-process by pressing both buttons in the dash at the same time.

Brammo Empulse Mods / Another windshield for the Empulse
« on: November 16, 2018, 05:30:14 AM »
Hello,
I have chosen an accessory windshield from a KTM Duke 790.
It fits very well to my Empulse R, is easily adjustable.

https://puig.tv/en/tuning-motos/windshields-specific-for-non-round-headlights/naked-new-generation-sport?bike=22871

The criteria were:
- Styling
- Size
- easy mounting

The two original holders of the kit from "Puig" had to be modified only slightly (slightly bent).

Michael
