I have an iPhone 4 and was unable to scan it with my standard QR scanner, i-nigma. But it scanned just fine from my Target, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy apps.

Brammo News And Views / Re: The Place for SEPT NEWS!!!

I don't know about that.  I'm pre-order #55 for an Enertia Plus, and I have yet to receive any kind of email update.  I've gotten all of the Empulse updates, but nothing specific to the Plus.

Brammo Empulse / Re: Six Speed Empulse - It's official(?)

The plus sounds like a much better bike for you then the Empulse. Lighter and easier to ride. A very easy "first" bike.

I've looked at the Plus, and there's two things about the Plus that makes me hesitate: 1) I'm just not a big fan of the styling.  Not to say that it isn't an innovative look, it's just doesn't match my personality. 2) The air cooled battery system fan.  Because I'd be plugging this up at work, outside of classrooms, I'm afraid that the fan would be a distraction to the middle schoolers.  I know that the Empulse has a liquid cooled system that makes it quiet while running and while charging.

Okay, so I seem to be in the minority here, but I'm really frustrated.  I got the newsletter today stating that the IET would be standard in the Empulse.  Well, that's not exactly what I signed up for.

First off, I'm not a motorcycle enthusiast, I'm an EV enthusiast on a budget. I love the Empulse becuase it's an EV first and foremost.  It's an EV that I can afford.  There's no way that I could ever afford a Leaf on a middle school teacher's salary. But I've been saving up pretty much since the announcement of the Empulse and was hoping to be able to pay cash for it early next year.  The one thing that sold me on this Empulse was that not only would it go Interstate speeds if necessary, go the range that I need it to, look kick-a around town, but primarily that I wouldn't have to learn how to shift gears like standard motorcycles.  I mean, that was the selling point right there. I've never driven a motorcycle before, but that one bit of tech had me hooked.  I really thought that one of the plus sides of being an electric vehicle was that it required a fraction of the parts of its ICE counterparts.  Doesn't a transmission just add complexity to a streamlined, simple, revolutionary device?  It's like adding a physical keyboard to an iPhone just to make it more like a computer.  That would be just trying to make it fit into the mainstream, detracting from the fact that it's setting a standard that doesn't need to be compared at all to any modern competitor.

I am number 995 in line for an Empulse, but this is no longer the Empulse I signed up for.  This seriously has me looking at a Zero S, despite the fact that it's speed is slightly slower than an Empulse, and it's look is not quite the street bike persona I was going for.

Help me out here. Was I wrong to think that Brammo was an EV company first? Or are my expectations just skewed?

Brammo Enertia FAQ / Re: FAQ - How do I charge my Enertia?
« on: May 23, 2010, 09:43:15 AM »
Thanks so much for the reply.  And man, that was quite a mouthful, wasn't it? It's great to know that the Enertia is so well built and monitored.  Everyone can rest a little easier because of that.

Now, I have a second question on charging.

I was stated somewhere (enter correct reference here) that the Enertia needs to be drained a couple of times to correctly establish a stable SOC.  I was wondering if you could expand on that.  Exactly how low should the Enertia get the first couple of times before it's charged?  And how exactly is that best accomplished without getting stranded in the process?

Brammo Enertia FAQ / Re: FAQ - How do I charge my Enertia?

I was watching some YouTube videos and came across a certain competitor's video that stated that their bike could be plugged up for months with zero adverse effects.

I was wondering if the Enertia has a similar BMS that prevents overcharging/heating/etc.

Wanting to buy / Re: New Rider

Thanks so much for the advice.  That really goes a long way to ease my doubts as to being able to drive an Enertia.

I can't say that I'll be getting to Oregon anytime soon though.  I'm not much of a traveler myself.  As a matter of fact, I'll be going to Washington, D.C., for the first time ever next week when I take my Science Quiz Bowl team to the DOE's national competition.

Now, I've read some information about those safety courses.  I know in Mississippi, the DMV will not waive the test even if you have taken the riding course.  And the course itself (from what I can find) is $200!  That's almost a turn-off right there.  But I'm determined to do this, so I'm just gonna have to save a little bit and maybe eat a little less.

Thanks again for the forum and the community!

And if it helps at all, I'm in Madison, Mississippi, near Jackson.

Okay, so I've never ridden a motorcycle before, but I really want an EV.  As a 7th grade science teacher, my budget is somewhat limited, so I figured that in lieu of the LEAF, I'll get an electric motorcycle.  So of course there are several - Brammo, Zero, Vectrix, (forthcoming) Govecs, GPR-S - all depending on needs of course.

Currently my preference is leading toward an Enertia.  But I was recently told by my roommate that certain people are just physically unable to ride due to the small size of the rider (feet unable to reach the ground when the bike is held upright).  I'm 5'8" and 150ish lbs. I was wondering if the Enertia would have similar size problems.  I believe I remember reading somewhere that it was a rather tall bike.

Would I be able to ride a Brammo Enertia?
