Brammo Empulse / Re: Similar Looking ICE Bikes

Ducati Monster?

(was having trouble adding the photo)

Ahh yes, one of my old favorites; I owned a '97 for three glorious years.  Sadly, like many torrid romances, it ended badly.  :(

Thanks for posting the letters.  I've been a subscriber to CW since 1992, and have always liked their writing & reporting, but I agree, they're on the wrong side in this one.  I think as the bikes improve, the reporting will become less biased.  Having said that, their article in the same issue on developments at Zero was quite positive, as has been their reporting on Zero's dirtbikes over the last two years.  They were also one of the first print mags to do a full review of the Enertia.  I think it's cool that Motorcyclist also devoted an entire issue to electric bikes; perhaps as more people see good products available, we'll continue to see minds changed in the 'old-school' print media.

Way to go, Brammo!  I wish the field had been bigger, but nicely done; I was really encouraged to see the results of race 2, when you had a more 'optimal' setup.

Good luck at Laguna; perhaps the others will put their money where their mouths are... ;)

Brammo Enertia Plus / Re: Enertia Plus in June????
« on: May 13, 2011, 01:22:43 AM »
This is great news, if it's true.  It's fantastic that Brammo's working on new models & prototypes, but the best thing they can do in my view, is get products into buyer's hands.  That'll get people even more excited about the models they've got in the pipeline.  I'll be really curious to see how the revisions to the design and the new batteries work.

That's great news.  I hope they come back to the U.S. at some point; I was bummed out when the company went under.  Hopefully, they'll be building some here, when they come back, just like brammo's going to be doing - building the bikes where they're purchased.

Brammo Engage / Re: Engage info?
« on: May 13, 2011, 01:08:36 AM »
I was going to do the same thing with Engage and Encite that we have done with Empulse and Enertia (and Enertia Plus).
Anyone want to chime in with opinions?  This is, of course, a democracy.
 :-X :D

Just kidding.  It's actually a duocracy.  Me and Skadamo.  But we're really interested in your views and want this to be the best Brammo Forum on the internets.

So.... thoughts? Yay or nay?

I say Yay, our fearless, noble, enlightened Dear Leader.... :)

Brammo Empulse / Re: belt or driveshaft
« on: May 13, 2011, 12:55:10 AM »
I think the reason many of BMW's f-series bikes aren't belt drive now is that many of them are off-road GS models, except for the 'sport-standard' model (I forget it's designation).  The sporty types, for some reason, don't dig belt-drive; I think maybe it's because it's easier to change to different sprocket/gearing combinations on chain-driven bikes.

Personally, I'd MUCH prefer a belt-drive.  It's interesting that ZERO has gone to belt drive on their streetbikes; this must make them even quieter than before; stealth is always a good thing when you're being a 'hooligan'....:)

This is interesting; perhaps it'll now be easier for people to compare 'apples to apples':

Man, now that's cool!  I'm digging that supermoto!  I can't wait to see the specs.

Keep up the great work, Brammo!

thanks for the video, brammofan; I meant to write a post about the photo shoot, as I got their catalog in the mail a few weeks ago.  Good stuff.

Brammo News And Views / lito sora electric naked bike prototype

All:

I thought this was pretty cool, although I think Brammo's move of just detailing the battery boxes and exposing them is a better-looking strategy:

Some nice touches, and interesting ideas, although I think they're drinking the Confederate Hellcat kool-aid...

I think this is amazing, to say the least.

I just wish his bike wasn't as ugly as warthog sex... :)  Seriously though, I think exciting things are afoot.

I agree completely.  This is also the first time I've seen someone talk about how much the engine maintenance on the ICE bike actually costs; ICE apologists are always talking about the battery-pack replacement costs, but never concede that their engines require significant maintenance.  I agree with the writer that the 65,000-mile kawasaki would likely require some engine refreshing, too.  I remember when I traded my '91 FZR600 in on my Ducati Monster, and they were AMAZED that it had never required major engine work (or even a clutch replacement, for that matter).  I guess many, many people are very hard on their machines... but I digress.
