Title: Headlight not on when charging
Post by: tkthompson on August 27, 2014, 05:17:39 PM
I know originally my bike's headlight came on when charging, as well as the tail light. My headlight never comes on now, which I actually like (hated that it came on in the first place). Has anyone else experienced this? Just curious more than anything else.

I would pay 100 euro for a software update to bring me that feature!

It's actually the parking light, whose wiring plug is easily pulled off the back of its socket.
Send 100 euro notes to my account! :D

Do you have a fix for the rear lights too?

Nope. Like my tail/stop light enough to not want to disconnect it! I suppose you could insert an inline switch to turn it off during charging, but then you'd have to remember to turn it back on. I guess we're left with requesting a software fix.

I think that would be a great software fix. I don't think I need anything more than seeing the LCD display on and the huge cable plugged in to know it's charging!

I bet the software can't control the lights at all. The reason I believe they use parking lights as the charging state is because they are just using a standard bike ignition (not one made specially for electric bikes) and they just needed a state that turned on some power (to power the battery charger up to detect the plug being plugged in and what not) that still left the bike locked and secure. So my thought is the ECU doesn't control the lights at all and just the ignition and the controls on the bars controls it.

I was under the impression that it is all CANBUS controlled.
This means that it is all programmable
