The problem with hydrogen is that it is part of a classic bait and switch.  They talk up "green" hydrogen, but in the end the vast majority of it comes from natural gas.

« on: September 18, 2020, 05:48:46 PM »
I had to evacuate my house a week ago after a few days with no power.  After a week the power was restored and were able to return.  I'm happy to report that our air AQI has dropped from dangerous to unhealthy!  It rained a lot last night, including areas of the fire to the east.  I haven't seen a fire update yet.

Any updates on this?  My bike just started doing this.  Of course its on the same day I put the bike up for sale.

Off Topic / Re: Tesla gets an "F" for customer complaint response
« on: April 27, 2018, 04:46:55 PM »
I wouldn't put a lot of stock in this report.  This is a case where the dealership model helps.  Reading the Tesla complaints I noticed the complaints are about Tesla the company.  For example, one complaint was about how deliveries of model X was not related to how much time has past since a deposit was made.  Looking at Ford, all of the complaints were related to a specific dealership.  No one complains about a dealership when a car is a lemon.  I think this is just more Tesla bashing via cherry picking of data.

Looks like it's donor bikes and sourcing parts from where Brammo got parts.., I.e. Parker, SEVCON, etc.

It looks like Sevcon parts might disappear as well...https://globenewswire.com/news-release/2017/07/17/1047327/0/en/Sevcon-Signs-Definitive-Agreement-to-be-Acquired-by-BorgWarner.html

Brammo Empulse / Re: NEMA 5-15 3.8kW charger??
« on: March 14, 2017, 05:28:25 PM »
Whats the deal with this charger?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N7L1L8T?psc=1

It advertises 110-220v and 3.8kW (16A) output power from a standard 5-15 plug. How is that possible? isnt 5-15 always a 110v outlet?

The two Amazon reviews say that it works great with their "Toyota Leaf".  I would avoid this product!

First question you need to answer: What's the value of a warranty if there is no one trained to work on the bike, or parts take half the warranty period to arrive?  Will the shop service the bike is sells?

Second... Are you comfortable with the TT depreciation?  In a year or two you might have a boat anchor if Polaris comes out with a new model (not likely), or drops production of the TT.  (Note Polaris stock is down about 40% for the last year... the TT is not a priority).

I'm not sure I can recommend a used one either.   Why not a few grand more for a Zero S?

Brammo Empulse / Re: What size crush washer for Empulse oil plug?

I ended up buying this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FW4N0Q/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
...and using the closest fit.  No issues so far in the 10k miles since the first use of these.

Brammo Empulse / Re: Mounting hardware for GIVI side cases V35NA
« on: May 03, 2016, 06:50:29 PM »

I have the bags, well,, had cases,, and yes the mounting is special for BRAMMO,,

I may sell them shortly,,, I don't use them as much as I used to,,,

CAT - if you have mounts that you're willing to sell, I'd love to buy them.  I can't find a set of GIVI mounts for my Empulse anywhere.  I already have a set of GIVI bags from a previous bike, but no mounts.

Note that your existing bags might not fit on this mount.  I have some old GIVI bags that will not fit on this mount.  Actually I wish the old ones would work.  I have never had any problems with GIVI bags until I got these for my Empulse.  Both keys cores popped out of the bag after about a year of use, making it so the bags could never lock, or always be locked.

It doesn't sound like you are interested in any DIY but changing out the brake and clutch fluid on my bike has become very painless with the installation of http://www.speedbleeder.com bleeder screws.  They have an internal check valve that prevents any air from re-entering the system as you pump the old fluid out/new fluid in (it is baffling that these are not the standard for bleeder screws).  For any DIYers out there I highly recommend these.

Could you post the sizes that you used.  I might give these a try.

I think you'll be disappointed if you expect the Empulse to cost less for service than any other motorcycle.  I have found the cost of service a bit disappointing for my Empulse.  I have also found that specific electric work, such as software updates, gets ignored during the service.  I now do most service myself.  The Polaris dealership where I bought it stopped accepting Empulse's for a while, but takes them now.

Brammo Empulse FAQ / Re: problems: second gear up to third
« on: December 21, 2015, 01:32:51 AM »
The only problems I have is shifting from 1st to 2nd when it's cold (30F-40F) for the first 2 miles of riding.  I have never had any issues with 2nd to 3rd.  I use Royal Purple Max-Cycle SAE 10W-30.  The bike has just under 15000 miles.

When you hold the clutch, can you rev the motor?
In other words does the clutch fully open the plates?
My bike needs some time to warm up and get the clutch to fully open.

The bike will move forward if you rev the motor while holding the clutch.  This is true even after riding 10+ miles in warm weather.

Brammo Empulse / Re: Empulse starts but throttle does nothing
« on: August 06, 2015, 12:06:06 PM »
Kill switch on?

No kill switch or side stand.  There is a slight noise coming from somewhere below the "tank" and above the batteries when I twist the throttle.  Ended up having the wife pick me and the bike up.  Glad I have a trailer.  I don't think that this is a moisture issue as the bike hasn't seen rain for months.  I've been riding it for the last two weeks in sunny weather.  Before that it was sitting in the garage waiting for parts to replace the chain and sprockets.  The strange thing is that for the last week I was getting the best range ever according to the SOC.

My Empulse is doing the same thing.  I tried cycling the power at least 20 times.  Turning the throttle during initial startup doesn't throw any errors, so I think it might be a throttle sensor.

Skuzzle - When you say no recall work, does that include the tail light /license plate rear arm? IMHO, this is a very important safety update and I'd work with Adam to get that piece to you you. It should be relatively easy to install. While your at it, get the chain spacer thingie that keeps the chain from wearing a grove in the swing arm.

Tail light done.  I was referring to the gear box breather.  I'm not sure if I would have it done anyway as I don't ride in very low temperatures.  The chain spacer thingie would be good.
