This is interesting; perhaps it'll now be easier for people to compare 'apples to apples':

Brammo News And Views / lito sora electric naked bike prototype

All:

I thought this was pretty cool, although I think Brammo's move of just detailing the battery boxes and exposing them is a better-looking strategy:

Some nice touches, and interesting ideas, although I think they're drinking the Confederate Hellcat kool-aid...

I thought this was a particularly interesting article, particularly their cost comparison.  Any thoughts about it?

sorry about that; I guess I clipped the copy/paste.

Off Topic / yikebike; have any of you seen this?

All:

I just ran across this thing on Gizmag:

I've gotta say, it's an interesting design; truly unique thinking here.  Not a competitor for the enertia, but still very cool.

Off Topic / hub-steering for moto2?

I'd love to see someone finally make hub-steer bikes become mainstream.  Perhaps
success on the racetrack will translate into real improvements in streetbikes.

I expect it'll end up falling to whoever successfully makes electric bikes to
bring systems like this to the mass market, as they're not as constrained by
conventions.  In fact, I wonder if this might work better for them, simply
because the battery/motor combination is more flexible in its
packaging/positioning.

Brammo Enertia FAQ / battery life?
« on: December 09, 2010, 11:27:41 PM »
I don't know if anyone here can address this question, but it's pretty relevant to those of us in the blast furnace of america (phoenix).  How long will the battery packs last after a few 115 degree summers?

I ask this because despite every warranty I can get, I've never had a car or motorcycle battery last more than about 3 years in my cars or motorcycles.  They're always telling me at the parts shops that the heat out here just kills batteries.  What got me thinking about this, naturally, was that I've got to get another battery for my current bike ('97 Yamaha Seca II), and just replaced the battery in my car after only 2 years, under warranty, but still...

Hey, here's a thought; maybe Brammo can send me a bike for 'desert longevity testing'... :)

Brammo News And Views / range in actual use
« on: June 03, 2010, 03:09:36 PM »
All:

I'd first like to thank all of you for making brammoless newbies like me feel welcome! :)

One question that I've been thinking a lot about is the issue of 'range anxiety,' which I'm sure some of you may have dealt with.  With that in mind, I would love to hear from some of you about the actual range you're getting in day-to-day use.  Please include whatever details are relevant, including speeds & distances traveled, whether you're commuting on level or hilly ground, etc.

Another related question came up when I was reading BrammoBrian's comments in another thread regarding future upgrades.  In that thread, he suggested that rider weight might significantly affect range.  Given that I'm 250 lbs in my birthday suit, this is a very relevant topic for me.

Thanks!

Welcome Forum / hello from phoenix!
« on: May 20, 2010, 01:34:59 PM »
Hello everyone, from sunny (and soon to be scorching) Phoenix.  I recently discovered this site throught Brammofan's great blog!  I've also occasionally browsed the elmoto.net pages, so I've seen BrammoBrian's great posts there, too.

A little about myself:

I'm a longtime motorcyclist, who started riding in 1990.  I've owned Hondas, Yamahas, one Ducati, and have ridden many other bikes over the years; I've got well over 100,000 riding miles under my belt.  I like practically all kinds of bikes - touring rigs, sportbikes, dirtbikes, cruisers, etc.  I first heard about Brammo about a year and half ago, and was immediately impressed by their seriousness of purpose, the extremely high level of design, finish, and attention to detail their bikes showed.  As a designer myself, with many design awards in my branch of design (architecture), I know what it takes to create a truly original, fully-integrated design, and to bring it to completion.  Bravo to the team at brammo for designing and building a truly wonderful machine!

I've been waiting for the electric vehicle revolution since I was a young boy, during the late '70s.  Back then, I remember reading a wonderful special edition of National Geographic which outlined what needed to happen to address the energy crisis.  They talked at length about electric and hybrid cars; at the time, I figured we'd be seeing them on the road by the time I graduated high school (1987).  As we all know, it's taken considerably longer than anyone back then imagined.  Still, I'm really excited to see the future is finally here, and that electric motorcycles are leading the way.

While I'm not in a position to buy an enertia anytime soon, due to the abysmal economy, I look forward to following developments here, and thank you all for helping to change the world!
