Title: A Smart Windshield
Post by: Richard230 on March 27, 2016, 05:09:52 PM
The question is do we really need more distractions when riding?

My opinion: Not needed at all. Especially the way they are showing it in the video. It appears to be a integrated into the windshield, which means it will only be available for certain makes and models that they happen to make the windshield for; as opposed to a unit that can be attached to any windshield.

My Sena does a perfectly good job of relaying voice directions from google maps on my phone, in my pocket. (plus music and the occasional phone call if I choose to answer it)

And, to add to Ashveratu's comment - I get just as much utility from my Schuberth SRC and an automation app on my phone.  And it follows me from bike to bike...

Uh, so let's see, their rationale goes something like this...

Riding is dangerous because riders can't check their incoming email and text messages with both hands on the bars while trying to negotiate ever-changing traffic populated by drivers who are texting, emailing, and talking on their phones, so let's put information totally unrelated to the task of staying aware of their surroundings and focused on their riding right in front of them on their windshield which will draw their eyes to near vision and downward.

Yes, that should be marketed as a safety feature. Right. Gives new meaning to "killer app."
