Title: Aerodynamics and Electrics
Post by: Shinysideup on November 27, 2017, 03:55:17 PM
As a former owner of an Easy Racer recumbent bicycle with a full axle-to-face windscreen, I was interested to find this article:

https://electricmotorcycles.news/royce-creasey-opens-a-new-perspective-on-two-wheeler-dynamics/ (https://electricmotorcycles.news/royce-creasey-opens-a-new-perspective-on-two-wheeler-dynamics/)

I think this board has had a discussion of why Feet First motorcycles would never take off, but I'm not convinced that will hold in the future. 90 mpg at 75 mph is impressive.

Honda's NM4 Vultus is conspicuous by its absence. Dan Gurney's Alligator was raved about by racers who rode it, but the design never caught on. I guess we bikers are super-conservative after all. Still, I'd love to try one out.

That was a great article by Royce. I've followed him for years - since the beginnings of the TTXGP racing series. He helped write the rules for that series and, specifically, the rules that allowed full fairings (i.e. dustbin fairings).
