Brammo Empulse Mods / Motor Cable Sleaves
« on: May 23, 2017, 12:24:15 PM »
I was eye balling my bike the other day and thinking about changing the motor cable sleeves with something more colorful like these : http://a.co/c9fOYIS (my bike needs more red).

Now looking at it, it should be as easy as just removing the motor cover and removing each cable of the terminal and sliding off the old and new one on. You guys think I should worry about pulling the High Voltage plug? In theory no electricity should be going threw those if the bike is off. Anyone else done this?

Brammo Empulse / Crush Washer Size
« on: May 09, 2017, 09:22:43 AM »
What is the crush washer size for the oil bolt? It's not listed anywhere on the site. Maybe could be added to the wiki page. I'd check myself but I wanted to have everything ready before I do my oil.

Brammo Empulse / Weird Braking Behavior
« on: July 22, 2016, 10:35:05 AM »
So I've been getting back on my bike since my accident over a year ago and I've notice some weird braking behavior and just looking for some feed back on why its happening and how to fix it.

The brakes feel fine and predictable most of the time but every once and awhile I'll start to grab the brakes and I get nothing for a good idk say the first inch or so and than all of a sudden they grab for what I would expect for an inch of movement, but there is no gradual lead up. So when this happens its normal more brake than I was asking for so I like go and re apply and it re apply just fine again. Thoughts on why this is happening?

Brammo Empulse / Blown fuse or worse?
« on: March 24, 2016, 06:52:45 PM »
So I was wiring up a LED strip brake light. And when I was testing which wire was running and which was brake I accidently touched the ground to the running tail light wire. Bike shut off and came back on with an error and taillight no longer working. So I turned it off and back on and the error was gone. So I figured I just blew a fuse no big deal. Looked up where the fuse box was in the manual and noticed that the brake and the horn were the same fuse. So I checked the horn and it still worked. Haven't took off took off the body panel yet to check the fuses but I'm a bit worried at this point. Thoughts?

Brammo Empulse / Preparing bike for first ride since my accident.
« on: March 08, 2016, 02:14:48 PM »
So I've been getting my bike ready for when spring rolls around and I take it back out. It has been sitting since Feb 2015 when I took a spill and broke my leg. Can anyone thing of anything beside chain lube, chain tension, and an oil change that should be done before getting back on it again since it's been sitting for so long?

Brammo Empulse Mods / 3D Printed Tidy Tail
« on: February 20, 2016, 12:48:34 PM »
I've been toying with making a tidy tail in CAD. I've made one designed to take a LED strip for the brake light and turn signals. Not 100% sure of fitment and wondering if anyone had a 3D printer and could try it out. My other option is I could order it from makexyz.com for $40 (not bad for a tidy tail).

Brammo Empulse / My shop has been waiting for over a month for parts.
« on: October 09, 2015, 12:28:55 PM »
I know this has be discussed before in other threads but it hasn't had a thread of its own.

As some of you probably know I wrecked my bike pretty hard back in Feburary. Well I took my bike to the shop I bought it from back in August. Called to check in with them today and they are still waiting on parts. Why is it taking a month+ for shops to get parts? Are they making the parts to order? All they need is a handlebar and left rearset.

Brammo Empulse / Why do we have a Clutch Sensor?
« on: July 27, 2015, 01:35:55 PM »
Just curious what does our clutch sensor do? It's not like we have to go into a neutral fuel map or anything.

Brammo Empulse / Reading Log Files
« on: April 08, 2015, 06:37:32 PM »
I'm trying to read my log files from the USB under the seat to figure out what happened to cause my accident a few months back. Has anyone be able to decode how the data is stored in these files? I'm currently trying to figure out the pattern to write a piece of software to view them and figured I'd ask if anyone else has tried this.

Thanks

Brammo Empulse / Wrecked my Empulse R
« on: February 16, 2015, 03:33:09 PM »
Well, looks like I wont be riding this summer. On Feb 8th we got a warm front through NJ and I thought what a great day to take the bike on a short trip to the deli for a sandwich. In a very standard low speed turn just a block away from home I lost control of the bike. Not sure why the whole event is quite fuzzy. Might have been cold tires or some sand in the road. High sided the bike at about 15mph and rolled the bike over on my leg. Broke my tibula and fibula just above my boot line. Gonna be a long recovery and unfortunately I'm debating even riding again. The bike held up fine. Bent shifter, broken front turn signal and some scuffed slider and bar end. I'm  scared to see how the Polaris buyout effects the resale of the bike.

Anyways guys hope your riding season starts out better then mine. Ride safe.

Brammo Empulse Mods / LED parking light
« on: December 19, 2014, 11:25:31 AM »
Does anyone know of a LED replacement for our parking light? I recently installed an LED headlight and would like  an LED parking light to match, since it runs when your headlight is on as well.

Did my regular search on youtube for Empulse videos and this came up. I had to share.

Brammo Empulse / IDEA: Eco Mode
« on: October 15, 2014, 01:03:14 PM »
So I was riding a long trip trying to maximize my range and I had an idea. We have sport and standard mode why not an Eco mode. Same regen braking as sport mode if not harder (who needs the hand break lol) with the same torque delivery as the standard mode. Now the big kicker is this, make it so the throttle has some slop to it. I feel like a lot  is wasted when you do small decels and accels constantly so if there was a little bit of slop on the throttle then it would easier to keep your throttle more consistent and avoid the small decels and accels.

I doubt there is room on the ECU for it but I don't think its a bad idea. Maybe for a future model.

It's a shame we can't switch modes while riding but it be nice to be able to switch into a eco mode for a long highway run.

Brammo Empulse / Removing the batteries for winter storage.
« on: September 29, 2014, 12:27:04 PM »
I was wondering if it was possible or a good idea even to remove the batteries for winter storage. I don't have a garage so my current option is simply parking my bike in my dinning room for the winter to prevent the batteries from freezing. I'm wondering if removing the batteries and just moving them inside for the winter is a reasonable option. Would charging the batteries to full then removing them be good enough to store them for 4 months? Or would this risk damage to them?
