Brammo Empulse undergoing EMC tests for EU approval
« on: February 19, 2014, 09:56:19 AM »
Just posted on twitter by Brammo:

"Empulse R undergoing EMC tests for EU Type Approval here in Hillsboro Oregon."

Because I had no idea, here's what I found:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_compatibility
"EMC aims to ensure that equipment items or systems will not interfere with or prevent each other's correct operation through spurious emission and absorption of EMI (electromagnetic interference).

I was thinking it reminded me of that stockroom scene in Matrix. "Guns. Lots of guns."

Cool. I know some of the electric bikes have had issues interfering with racing lap transponders - good to know Brammo is looking at EM interference.

This EMC testing is required for EU Type Approval.  The same testing was done for the Enertia for Europe.  One of the reasons we waited for the 2014 model year to go to Europe with the Empulse is that the vehicle control electronics were re-worked and functions re-distributed, so we didn't want to have to do this testing twice.  This is the last official test required to receive type approval, so all systems are go to Europe!

Good, as I just shook hands with the Dutch importer on his first Empulse sale!
