Dude, I just found and edited a Zero owner's round table (audio only) I hosted almost 8 years ago. It'll go up tomorrow. But yeah, I get it.

I subscribe to your channel and have been seeing these videos pop up. So YouTube has been doing its thing. I'm just not into the dirt bike stuff as much. But now I'll have to give one a watch.

Off Topic / I'm at it again
« on: November 22, 2021, 09:30:43 AM »
Hello all. Well, I am at it again. I am having fun once a week recording the week's elmoto news as best as I can. I am on YouTube and just last night I figured out how to turn that video into audio and post it to Spotify, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Podbean, Amazon, and iHeartRadio. I haven't got TuneIn and Pandora set up yet though. But I will work on it. Just search for ESBK Studios.

I don't like spamming the forums, but I'm getting 0 traffic. I thought maybe it's OK to speak up one time and if I get subscribers then heck yeah. If interest doesn't bump up then I can just do it for the fun of it and no one has to watch.

Here's my latest news roundup/show thing. ;)

:o My first reaction was, "they can't figure out valve springs and carbon frames. And what elmotos do they make? None. How are THEY going to make a lighter elmoto than Energica?" But, they do belong to the VW family so they will have access to EV tech at not a bad price. No other manufacturer I can think of has that advantage . . . oh wait, BMW. Also, they have that line of e-Bikes for Mountain biking and city commuting. So not as far out there as I originally thought.

Brammo Empulse / Are you having difficulty getting parts for repairs
« on: August 17, 2020, 10:02:34 AM »
So I DM'd a well know electric motorcycle dealership just inquiring if they were selling Energica or Lightning Motorcycles. I've just been out of touch and thought they used to sell Energica. I thought if the YouTube brew-ha-ha over Lighting had proved not true, they might be offering them.

They reply I got was . . . disappointing. Although I feel it wasn't done in malice, and aimed at someone actively looking to buy a bike.

Anyway part of the the reply was to demonstrate that you want to be cognizant of if the company you are buying from might not last, and could leave you stranded if you need parts. The comment was made that Brammo owners could be having a hard finding parts right now.

My snarky response should have been, well if they had as many recalls as Zero has had over the years I'd be worried for them. But alas hind sight and all that.

So, considering Brammo's production was sold off to Polaris, and put under the Victory brand, that was then killed off. Is anyone having a hard time getting parts and support?

Is anyone else super suspicious of this? We've heard this line from Lightning before. I feel like more than once. And Richard Hatfield won some sort of award recently recognizing all that he has done. Anyone know what he did?

Brammo News And Views / Re: I wish Brammo/Victory were still around
« on: December 24, 2018, 01:14:04 AM »
Zero has always had consistent issues with recalls. So continued issues are of no surprise, but a dissapointment. You would think at some point if they aren't innovating they would have the time to get the bugs worked out. But Zero, after they kicked out the guy who started the company originally, it went full corporate. And their actions match those of a company run by a board whose mission is to make investors money. Although I'm not even sure they are a publicly traded company. Brammo was started and stayed under the control of an entrepreneur with passion. Zero won, Brammo lost. Zero hasn't innovated in years, yet I keep hearing the word associated with them. They have however evolved their bikes. But that reminds me of the days you would buy a Zero and the next year it was obsolete. They are going to milk this cow for as long as they can. They have no competition. $40k Lightnings that are just NOW getting made, maybe. $25k Energicas that could be as unreliable as a Ducati. Please. Cheap junk bikes from China. They are going to sit where they are and save their money and wait for the tech to come to them until somebody forces them to innovate. Which really, I feel is the smart play anyway. Motorcyclists, in the few years I actively blogged, proved how conservative they are, especially in relation to automotive enthusiasts. There was some inial excitement, but look at how well formula E is doing. Now that the FIA has pulled their heads out, have a spec race series and MotoGP stars on the bikes, maybe excitement will pick back up. But I feel that is not going to be the case. Electric motorcycles are going to be 10 years behind electric cars in adaption. And I have a feeling that the used market is what is going to really drive adaption rates in both markets. I miss Brammo as much as anyone but looking at things as they are now, and reflecting on how things were 7 years ago, letting Zero coast, as much as it grates on my last nerve, really seems like the reasonable thing to do for now.

Brammo Racing / Re: how to prepare the Brammo for Race
« on: June 09, 2016, 10:33:29 PM »
Ah heck. Brammo had an actual catalog one year, but now that Victory owns the bikes, I have no idea where to look.

Fairings have always been a bit if a hack job. I would get a hold of the eMotoRacing guys here in the US. Most of then race Brammos.

Seriously guys, where do y'all get frame sliders? And what fairings work the best?

Victory Empulse / Re: Victory to race an RR at Pikes Peak
« on: June 09, 2016, 10:30:09 PM »
Interesting, Ride Apart reported back then, with what appears to be a bit of a scoop based on rumors, that Victory is bringing one of the bikes from the TT. Recent pr's have it as a Victory Empulse TT race tuned and modded (heavily?). But with Don Canet, who is not a Mark Miller, Jake Holden, or Jeremy Toye. But he ran the Project 156 last year, so I guess I'll cut him some slack. The confusion seems to come from that they decided to call the modded TT an "RR" which is what the prototype bikes used to be called. Where the prototypes are now called "Victory RR"s as I found out via Victory's PR twitter account.

Then there is this multi faceted Zero team made up of a few of the previous race teams. And the Hollywood Electric's team with Mark Miller, and I guess someone else as Jake Holden is not on the entry list. I haven't dug that deep to read of a rider change.

Nice to see nothing changes when I stop paying attention. Atleast we'll get a legit Zero V Brammo . . . bah Victory, battle for a change.

Brammo Racing / Re: Victory RR takes second place at the TTZero

From the Post race interview it sounds like everybody checked up a bit after seeing McGuiness fall back, and no one was full out. Based on riders reactions, I think we could have seen 120 from both Mugens and maybe 116 or 117 from the Victory if McGuiness's hadn't faltered. But that's me.
