I had to evacuate my house a week ago after a few days with no power.  After a week the power was restored and were able to return.  I'm happy to report that our air AQI has dropped from dangerous to unhealthy!  It rained a lot last night, including areas of the fire to the east.  I haven't seen a fire update yet.

Glad you're safe! Scary for sure.

AQI dropped quite a bit after the rain Friday and over the weekend, down to 5-10 AQI, which is awesome. Increased a little yesterday to about 120, then dropped under 50, and it's 5 right now. Rain coming this week, hopefully to help keep the fires in check so they can start to get them under control.

Yeah, it's shit here right now. Horrible air quality (Just got below 400 this morning). Talent was hit hard, but the Brammo building (according to Craig Bramscher) was spared.

Blue river and Vide were completely lost to fire.

I'm in Beaverton, just west of Portland, and the smoke is horrible. I'm considering going to the coast to my inlaws house for a few days just to get away. I'm asthmatic and it's burning right now, even with a filter running 24/7 in our bedroom and office.

Brammo Empulse Mods / Re: Brakefix parking brake

I have two of these that are Brammo Branded. Green plastic that goes on the throttle, and a rubber part that goes around the brake handle.

I'll give them free to the first 2 members that email me (you will need to pay shipping).

Really happy to see where Brian and team are going with this vehicle. I caught up with Brian at Pikes Peak and he told me all about the lightfighter he's been working on. I expect we'll see a lot more of them in the future, might even work together (I work at Cascadia Motion, and we make inverters and motors)!

Good luck guys!

No, Not that I know of. I don't know any that would do this, as it's a vehicle-side issue.

There's no communication between the EVSE and vehicle. The vehicle can only tell the charger "how many amps" through the pilot signal, and that's about it. The EVSE has no way of knowing what SOC you start with, and what the current SOC is.

I found this:
https://www.summet.com/blog/2015/09/28/evse-install-juicebox-pro-40/

Via the app, you can enter the current SOC, and it will cut off at a certain SOC. The Juicebox has a current sensor, so it can calculate how much energy goes into the vehicle. If it knows the SOC (entered manually by the user), it can stop at a pre-determined SOC, like 80%.

I liked the clipper creek, but I'm a geek. I built the OpenEVSE and loved it. Got rid of it when I sold the Empulse, but then I got a Chevy Volt. I got the Juicebox Pro 40A (with Wifi) off Craigslist for a song. It seems pretty solid so far! And you can track your power usage and a ton of other stuff.

From the ones I saw out there, if you want something expandable, get a Juicebox or OpenEVSE for the most power per dollar charging ability.

I looked at octopart.com for mini blade fuses and there's just nothing available. That's a shit design, IMHO to have ONE source for fuses.

Not sure the alternative. Does Victory stock them?

Oh, that sucks. I didn't realize they used 125V rated blades. Sorry about that.

They look like run-of-the-mill mini blade fuses. Should have some at an automotive store. They're the Mini Fuses, not the standard size.

Brammo Empulse / Re: Brammo Software

What I need is to hand off all of it to someone. I do know how to use DVT very well, and that it requires an IXXAT cable. I don't, however, know if their software requires that same dongle or uses DVT for the controller, or if they have some sort of custom software they've done. I don't have a bike or time to really figure out what is what.

There are useful tech service bulletins, and also a full schematic.

I do know that different firmwares might brick the VCU, because they're different hardware revisions. I also know that different controller files will cause unwanted operation, because there are 5-6 different motor versions between all of the years of bikes.

I gave the info for the Enertia to Harry, and that is pending addition to the wiki. The Empulse stuff will go to John (VTBrammorider) this week, and be put on the Wiki.

I don't know a ton, or have much info, on the VCU or BMS software. The VCU seems to be accessed over Canbus via a 3-pin metripack connector under the front right cover below the frame cross bar. One is Display CAN the other is Controller CAN. DO NOT ever connect them together, as the controller CAN is not isolated.

The Controller CAN gives access to the controller setup. You can tweak things, but not a lot of diagnostics can be done for the rest of the bike. I've never got training, but I have seen some of the software linked.

I have a full schematic of the bike, and other documents, that I need to get to someone that can guarantee they will be scanned in and put somewhere others can access. I was going to give it to vtbrammorider, but I haven't done it yet. I don't have time, nor a Brammo.

I think the connection from VCU to the BMS is all RS485 of some proprietary protocol and requires an RS485 tool that I've not found. The connection from computer to VCU or Controller is via an IXXAT Can to USB dongle as far as I know, but they may use something else if the Victory software is proprietary.

I tweaked a little on mine back in the day, but never did much diagnosing, as mine had no issues.

PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you do NOT know what you're doing, it is very easy to make your Empulse inoperative, sometimes permanently. I do NOT suggest you try to do anything unless there is something specific you are looking to change, or diagnose. The software is for Brammo-trained Techs.

The only reason I know anything about it is that I owned one, knew people at Brammo, and I have experience with the Sevcon. I do not have experience with the VCU or BMS. As far as I know, you need a different cable than the IXXAT for the BMS, and I'm not sure if it's in that kit.

Tread carefully, even though the software is available, you can completely brick the motorcycle if you're not careful and flash the wrong firmware to the different components.

Also, the part that is largely missing, is any documentation on how to use any of the software that is linked.
