Off Topic / TT Zero 2014
« on: June 05, 2014, 02:16:34 PM »
Ahoi,

I just had a look at the TT Zero 2014 times, and, well, WTF?
Honda/Mugen with John McGuinness won with 117.366 mph (19' 17.300) which ist more than a minute faster than last year (20' 38.461). Delta mph are almost 8 which is the biggest step in the history of the TT Zero.

Has anyone found any articles / videos longer than a 3 lines? I more or less missed the whole event, dont even know which day it was.

Brammo Empulse / European Empulse E1 delivery
« on: May 18, 2013, 07:35:43 PM »
Well, this adresses more or less BrammoBrian respectively Brammo*, but as others might be very much interested I think a public forum is the right place:

As the Empulse E1 seems to get delivered in the US now (Im still impressed by the beautifull matte plastic instead of polished and rather chavvy CarbonFiber), but there is still no sign of the Empulse in Germany. Even worse, some dealers (there seem to be alot according to (1))  have postponed the first bikes from (spring/summer) 2013 to spring 2014 (2).
May I ask you the reasoning behind it?
Afaik the Empulse would have been build @ Flextronics in Hungary anyway, so manufacturing shouldnt be the bottleneck. Is it some supplier?
Or is the European Empulse significantly modified compared to the US version (could only think of dropping the 110V charging, and maybe adding ABS, as it gets mandatory 2015 anyway, and maybe different power maps for lower licence classes (but that couldnt take that long, could it?))
Do you have problems aquiring certifications from the admission board / licensing administration authority? But you already managed to squeeze the Enertia through the (most probably longish painful and expensive) procedure?

Sometimes, on the darkest of days, those days were the moon goes black, Jupiter and Neptun align and the sky turns slightly yellow I sometimes silenty wonder if Brammo gives a shit about the European market at all. Hans Eder sometimes seems at least in my not in the slightes all-seeing-eyes more concerned about the BrammoParx and this strange kind of motorcycling where you stand on tiny machines and get all dirty with mud and dust.

2014, honestly. ZeroMC will probably have a new series by then. Even if the improvements wont be that gigantic anymore im quite sure there will be some. Also, please dont forget adding ABS soon :)

Off Topic / zero motorcycles 2013 website update
« on: February 05, 2013, 01:57:49 PM »
So, just a month to late, the site of zeromc has been updated to the new bikes. Horray!
featuring some videos, prices etc.

for your convenience: http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/

The pricing still pisses me of. 1800 USD for the chademo upgrade, but 1900 EUR in germany? wtf?
Thats worth 2550$ currently. After converting 1700 USD to EUR and adding 20% sales tax (1550 EUR) there is still a difference about 350 EUR there to explain.

I'll write them and have them them answer that question *stomps off*

edit: fixing numbers.

Off Topic / 2013 Zero Modells
« on: October 02, 2012, 03:18:38 AM »
A good morning to you all,

a few minutes ago a newsletter from zero motorcycles arrived, here is the online-version:
http://view.s4.exacttarget.com/?j=fec3127076610174&m=fe9c15707365007a75&ls=fe31167874650478721575&l=ff5c1d7877&s=fe51137877600d7b7310&jb=ffcf14&ju=fe9a1370746c047974&r=0

Too bad its completely german, and i couldnt find an english version of it? o.O

They boast with 220 km range (like the empulse), and, the most promising i think, just 1h charging time!

Here are pictures (they look as boring as the old ones)
http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/de/2013

Yes, no english version again. Thats just ridiculous :D

All in all I think of them (at least of the S series) as quite uninspired. Bigger battery (11.4 kwh) - thats all. Booooring :D
And a pricetag of 16k Euros, which is even 1k more than the European Empulse. Zero really hast to stop with pricetags with the same numbers and just another currency - the conversion factor is 1.3 $/Euro! Even included VAT (19% here in .de) cant justify that!

Off Topic / Us driving licence system & Enginge output reduction
« on: August 02, 2012, 10:28:02 AM »
Hello fellow men,

over here in .de getting your motorcycle license is sometimes a bit complicated.
There are 3 categories, depending on your age while getting the license:
A1: is for 16-18 years old, and youre may only drive bikes with a maximum power output of 11kW and a topspeed of - i think - about 80 km/h (50mph)
Ab: (A restricted) is for 18-25 year olds, allowing to go all out on a 25kW - powered bike (the Kawasaki Ninja 250 would be a prime example)
A: the completely unrestricted class. You get it automatically after having Ab for 2 years, or being 25 while getting the license.

These laws (which idea is of course to prevent young people from driving to their graves by riding a 1000cc without any experience; something i do not completely disagree with) make it common to get your Ab, then buy a bigger bike then a e.g. 250cc and restrict the engine output by some manufacturer-provided kit for the two years.

The main question is:

Is there anything comparable in the US (how does getting a drivers license work there at all?) ?
Which preceeds the next question: Are downtuning-kits there as common as here?
Which preceeds the calculation of a propability of Brammo to getting something like a kit out on the market -
Which preceeds the time and financial calculations i have to do before aquiring one.

Or maybe it doesnt matter at all, cause the delivery times are so long that I am already in the posession of a A-class license then :)

Greetings
