Brammo Empulse / Re: Empulse Registry
« on: February 13, 2013, 09:06:46 PM »
The map really needs a "delete" option. I can't delete my name from it. Until someone gets tired of playing with their Empulse (like THAT's going to happen...), I don't think I belong on that map. Unless you guys can create a "supporter" tag...  8) You can name it "fan on foot"... or something less lame.

Brammo Empulse / Re: MotorcycleUSA testing the Empulse?
« on: January 23, 2013, 11:41:15 PM »
I'm a typical INTJ, but I won't let my judgemental leanings prevent me from buying anyone on the forum beers if we show up to a group ride and you're wearing...
If I meet anyone wearing something like that, I will definitely buy him/her a beer just for the bravery factor. You really must be courageous to walk out of the house wearing that!  ;D
I do agree with you that there's a limit. I'd rather trust my own ability to prevent accidents than to trust other people's sense of responsibility. Just don't do anything stupid and expect everyone else to do something stupid and you will be much safer.

Brammo Empulse Mods / Re: Empulse tail tidy mod from BrammoBrian
« on: January 20, 2013, 02:30:47 PM »
If BrammoBrian changed his, I believe that it should be legal. I don't think Craig would let anyone working for him to break the law... but, then, I don't know Craig.  ::) It could also be a legal issue in some specific markets and they thought it would be easier to go with it than offer too many options in the first batch. They can tackle it on a second or third edition if sales are high enough.
In my opinion, Brian's mod looks good and if he is changing it, Brammo should be thinking on standard options for that tail. Unless, they made it on purpose to give people something to tinker with and get them more involved with the aftermarket community, increasing the general buzz around the brand.
Back lights, mirrors, and clip-ons are easy mods that any beginner can attempt without much risk and feel like they have an "unique" and more personalized motorcycle, so they have something to talk in forums like this one. ;)
People don't buy motorcycles for utilitarian purposes only (at least not in the US). So, building a community based on easy mods would definitely work in Brammo's favor in the long run.

This regulation is an obvious attempt by ICE industry to stall electrics a bit and increase prices. If it was really about helping people who can't see or dumb children (and adults) who don't pay attention, the regulation would establish a noise limit (minimum and maximum) for all types of vehicles, not only electrics. They are singling out electrics and that's not a "short-sighted" mistake, but a specific strategic attack.
As soon as people start requiring volume control to silent luxury ICE cars, the support for this regulation will dwindle almost immediately.

You probably scared the heck out of them when you showed up and parked there. They probably thought you were going to sue them for royalties...

Brammo Enertia Plus / Re: This one's mine!
« on: January 06, 2013, 12:53:51 PM »
I would definitely rent an Enertia Plus to ride around some of those narrow streets.
We do not only have donkey trails here in europe.
I know another reason while you should rent one in europe: They are available ;)

I have driven in many of Europe's highways and I wouldn't take an Enertia anywhere near them. It's suicide. I just thought it would be a nice alternative to scooters. For the actual roads, I wouldn't take them with anything less than an Empulse and even that would be risky. A Lito Sora or a Lightning would be more appropriate for that kind of trip.

Riding a plus in Europe simply sounds awesome! Maybe Brammo should start a rental service in some main cities there. I would definitely rent an Enertia Plus to ride around some of those narrow streets.

Off Topic / Re: Tesla can now establish their own dealerships
« on: January 05, 2013, 05:37:16 PM »
Reading that statement makes me wonder how electric motorcycles will be marketed at established major brand IC motorcycle dealerships once the initial novelty and surge of early adopter sales have subsided. And when the major IC motorcycle brands, such as BMW, enter the field, things might even get tougher for EV start-ups, like Brammo and Zero, who can't establish their own dealerships, like Tesla can.

The other thing that fascinates me is how some H-D dealers are taking on electric motorcycles.  Those guys sure didn't do a very good job of selling the Buell.

In my opinion, it's very clear that H-D killed Buell. They had a good product and could have been selling well if it wasn't for H-D dealers sabotaging the sales.
I believe that multi-product dealerships, like Scuderia, will probably be the way to go later on for Brammo and other electrics. It would be even cool if they stopped some of the bickering between Zero and Brammo and actually started a supporting system for people who would want to open a new dealership or transition to an all-electric store.

Another option is for them to try and get on with Tesla and starting selling their products in Tesla dealerships... The products are different enough that it wouldn't hurt either business and would definitely have some people who understands the benefits of electric motors on the floor.

Brammo Empulse / Re: December Delivery News
« on: December 04, 2012, 07:08:35 PM »
If PA is the closest dealer to you, that is not a good sign. Weren't they supposed to have at least one in Maryland?

Also, wasn't 3 weeks the same thing they told someone else on this list about a month and a half ago or something like it?

I hope this won't turn into a lump of coal or a gallon of gas, but I really hope all of you get your Empulses by Christmas. It would make one hell of of Christmas gift, especially to those who can still ride during the winter!
I am really curious to see you guys (safely) pushing it to its limits and posting the results here.

Brammo News And Views / Re: Brammo Cruiser?

There's also the Lito Sora, which has some cruiser-like qualities.

Another beautiful and waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy out of my budget bike!  :o

I need to start playing the lottery... I need to start a collection of electric bikes now.

On another unrelated news, my college got our first electric charging station approved. Now I just need something to park in front of it Gavin-style.

Hopefully there will not be anything else holding those bikes back, and sometime next week we could be riding them. I hear there may be snow however... :o

I hope you get it before the snow.
It would really suck to have that machine at hand and not be able to ride... >:(

Good luck and ride safe!

Off Topic / Re: Will the gas tax finally go up?
« on: November 23, 2012, 01:51:34 PM »
As long as they actually use the money to fix the infrastructure, yes, higher gas taxes would make sense. It would probably help even truck companies to cut some costs in service if the roads are better maintained.
