Title: Handguards
Post by: Brammofan on January 29, 2010, 10:08:45 AM
From Brian Wismann:
Regarding handguards, I've been planning on getting a set of these for awhile to try out, but haven't quite gotten around to it.

I think they'd match the overall aesthetic of the Enertia nicely and provide a little extra wind protection. Be sure to post whatever you come up with!

I actually did get a set of those, but only had them installed for a day or so and forgot to take photos.  They weren't bad, just not quite to my liking.  They're still at the shop, so I'll throw them on next week and take a couple of photos.

BTW... these exact handguards showed up on this concept bike from Moto Guzzi at the EICMA show in Milan last year.  It's called the V12 Strada and was designed by one of the greatest motorcycle designers of all time, Pierre Terblanche. I think they look pretty sharp (bike and handguards)!

Brian, how did you get these to work with the bar-end mirrors?

The CRG "bar-end" mirrors can actually clamp to the handlebar tube.  So... these handguards insert into the end of the bar and you can still slip the mirror on the end of the bar on the outside of the grip.  Trust me... it works.

I just posted a picture of my CRG "bar-end" mirror on my Enertia. There is some room to adjust the caps at the very end of the handlebar tube, and then re-tighten with an allen wrench.

It really helps to see what is behind you. The mirror is a wide angle where you could expect to see the warning that "objects are closer than they appear."

Yep... the CRG Hindsight "Lane-Splitter" (LS) is my bar-end mirror of choice.
