Brammo Empulse / Re: 2013 Empulse Sprockets

I also need to replace my chain and sprockets. Has anyone found a place to buy the front sprocket, or a compatible replacement?

Thanks for posting the sizes (part numbers)! This is just what I was looking for now that it seems impossible to get a Brammo serviced in the immediate vicinity. Great info.

Thanks for the info cybergodzilla. I will reach out to them. It still sucks that I would have to waste a day off trailering my bike up to Orange County, but I guess it could be worse. I really appreciate the information as it is much more than Polaris has provided. Ride on!

I am trying to get support for my Brammo Empulse R that I purchased from San Diego BMW Motorcycles in 2013. I really do love the motorcycle, but I have been running into a wall when trying to get it serviced. I originally called BMW Motorcycles of San Diego as they completed the 9k mile service. They informed me that they no longer sell or service the Brammo line, or the new Victory Empulse model. Since Polaris acquired the electric motorcycle business from Brammo I called Polaris directly and was told that I just need to call around to Polaris dealers in the area that will service my Brammo Empulse R. Polaris could not direct me to any shop/dealer that could complete the 12k mile maintenance that my bike requires. None of the Polaris dealers I spoke with in the area would even touch it (even the shop that sold the Victory Empulse-TT). When I asked about getting the tire changed, they stated that I would need to take the wheel off and bring it in because they would not work on a bike that their mechanics were not certified to work on. I also own a Polaris RZR, but with the service I am receiving I am continuing to question my riding choices.

I have finally reached out to Brammo and am awaiting a callback from Kurt Beckman. In the past I always had great service and support from Brammo (especially Adam Lukoic when he was the service manager). I hope either Brammo or Polaris will help me in finding a solution to getting my bike serviced and also inform me of the current process should a warranty issue arise (specifically speaking to the 5yr battery warranty).

I have reached out to 4 different dealers in my area to no avail. I hope to continue to support new technologies and the companies that make them possible knowing that they also support their current and past customers, but this is making it pretty hard.

Brammo Empulse / Re: More fame for Jeff, but the bad news?

Hey Jeff,

I belong to the triple club as well and love the Dragster. As far as the sprag clutch, that seems to be the biggest issuewith some of the bikes. I decided to put a shorai battery in the Dragster not only because I hope it will help keep my sprag clutch from going, but everything I have ever read states the stock battery sucks anyway. As far as this helping with the sprag clutch, I am not so sure. I ran into a guy at Moto Forza and he was on his 4th one and he had already replaced his battery as well. I'm short, so the bike fits me well. I love the power!

As far as how the electric stacks up, it is my go to commuter bike. It's the narrowest bike I had and is just made for splitting lanes when necessary. And yes, it's definitely becomes a nuisance having to stop at the gas station after riding an electric.

Cool to see another MV Agusta 800.

Brammo Empulse / Re: Empulse starts but throttle does nothing

Mine was a water issue, I ride in SoCal. I barely know what rain is except that I grew up in Oregon  ;D

They did do a software upgrade when I took mine in and I haven't had it happen since then (knock on wood). I hope they get it figured out for you. Let us know if they find anything.

Brammo Empulse / Re: System Fault B40

My bike has been throwing out the B40 error as well. As long as I  turn the key off and then back on it goes away. Mine started doing this after the last firmware upgrade. It seems to happen about 1/3 of the time. I have about 9500 miles on the bike.

Well they didn't find anything at the dealer but I guess a firmware upgrade just came out so the are going to upgrade the firmware and we'll see what happens.

The two times this has happened to me the bike finally responded to throttle input after trying to turn it off/on a few times and then just leaving it on and sitting for a few minutes. This isn't very helpful when in traffic! I did put the bike in second gear both times the issue occured, thinking maybe it was in a false neutral.

The dealer called yesterday stating that they completed the recall but did not find any errors. They are going to have someone from Brammo log into their system remotely to run diagnostics. Hopefully I will hear from them soon. The bike has about 8500 miles.

Brammo Empulse / Empulse starts but throttle does nothing
« on: March 08, 2015, 05:19:10 PM »
Hi Guys,

I figured I would post my issue and then update it when and if the issue is resolved by the dealer. A few months ago I was riding to work and stopped at a red light. When the light turned green I twisted the throttle and the bike just sat there. I turned the key to the off position and then back on. I went through the normal start-up operation and still nothing. I just sat there. Then I thought maybe it was in a false neutral so I put it in second gear, still nothing. I started looking around at the bike and kept giving it blips of throttle and all of a sudden it just frickin' leapt forward. Luckily I got the bike under control and continued to work.

For the next few months I rode and never experienced the issue again, until this past Friday. I came out of work and turned the key on the Empulse-R. It started normally. I held the start button in and put up the kickstand. The green lights flashed and I gave it some throttle.....nothing. I restarted it about 5 more times to no avail. I called my dealer to see if I could have it towed to the shop. While on the phone with the dealer I turned the bike back on and let it sit there. After it was sitting for a bit, I went back over and held the start button and pulled up the kickstand. I gave it a little throttle and it started rolling, although it was a little rough, and I was able to make it home.

So, yesterday I took it into the dealer and hope that there is data on the stick drive that will help pinpoint the issue. No error codes ever showed on the screen and the starting procedure always seemed fine. I'll update this thread with anything I find out from the dealer about the issue. I hope it doesn't take too long to find since the issue seems intermittent.

Brammo Empulse / Re: Headlight not on when charging

I think that would be a great software fix. I don't think I need anything more than seeing the LCD display on and the huge cable plugged in to know it's charging!

Don't forget the good looks of the "R" with its carbon fiber touches.

Brammo Empulse / Headlight not on when charging
« on: August 27, 2014, 05:17:39 PM »
I know originally my bike's headlight came on when charging, as well as the tail light. My headlight never comes on now, which I actually like (hated that it came on in the first place). Has anyone else experienced this? Just curious more than anything else.

No loaner bike for me and they said to wait a couple of days before I get any news about the bike :(

Sounds pretty shitty since the bike is practically new.........
