Title: Brake servicing section added to the Wiki
Post by: Brammofan on August 17, 2010, 02:41:28 PM
I added a page on brake service to the Brammo Owners Forum Wiki (http://www.brammoforum.com/wiki/index.php?title=Brakes).  It's pretty much straight from the Owner's Manual, but if you can think of anything that needs to be added/changed, either let me know or log in and make the changes yourself.

I really do want to make the Wiki more than just an easy-to-use owner's manual.  I want it to be "value-added" adjunct to this forum.

BrammoJen gave some good advice on brake maintenance in this thread:

No problem. I hope we learn more about the brakes on any Brammo as information is added to the forum and to the Brammo Owners Forum wiki. I have never added to a wiki before, but I think I will give it a go next time.

Looks like it's about time to get my pads replaced, but I haven't seen anything listing what pads to get. BrammoJen is currently looking it up for me and I'll update here when I have that info.

Great!  If you want to add it to the wiki, or would rather I do it, let me know.

Unfortunately Jenn hasn't been able to come up with the brake pad specs. If I'm feeling ambitious I'll see about taking the front pads off later today while parked at the bike shop I've been frequenting and see what we can determine from the pads themselves.

MXS181 - Sintered Off Road Race
FA181HH - Sintered HH Sport Road
EPFA181HH - Sintered Off Road Race

Which ones do you recommend for daily commuter (all city)?

HH in the front would be my choice but I like having the extra stopping power.

How about for longevity?

Not sure but I'm guessing the HH pads will hold up the best.
