Damn Patrick,

that's a lot of measuring voltages.

I'm going to be using LG Chem (volvo) modules. 4S3P for each module. I am planning to reuse the CMU's from the old modules.
The total pack would weight about 91KG, so about 20kg more than the original pack. (one module is 13KG)

The new batteries will be in a waterproof enclosure.

Thanks for the input you gave me about the temperature censors. that's pretty good info to know.

Hi Patrick

So you wanted to replace them with prismatic cells, thats also a good option. Way better than those little pouches.

I am going to build a whole new battery pack, will try to make a drawing of it (it's in the attachments)
or here is the drive link to the image
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bIThcw3qWkxuPMj295Wg-BoLUXnitr9m/view?usp=sharing

so on the side it's going to be wider than the normal batteries. and i am going to make a new enclosure for it so the new modules are also waterproofed and encased for a accident (i don't want to set everyone on fire when I crash)

Currently, I'm buying more from aliexpress and rebuilding all 7 batteries. but not all the 252 units, for now only 52. Whitout the new ones I had less than 4kW/h to use on the bike, and one of the 7 batteries were preaty bad, while all the others were at 50%, the bad one was already at 0%, thats why I was having the B40. Whit the new ones I'm reaching 6kW/h.

Hi patrick, Why are you buying new cells from aliexpress? is'nt it better to swap out all battery modules for better ones ?

Hi Patrick, I'm not talking about getting the same brammo modules. that are filled with the same old batteries.
my plan is to swap out the bikes modules and replace them with 2.88kwh 4S LG Chem modules from a volvo XC40
so in total 7 modules with a capacity of 20Kwh.

I have to take out the pcb's from the current modules and attach them to the LG ones. Make a waterproof case and fit them in the bike. thats all pretty doable for me.

that would give me a theoretical range of 400km average riding.
I am also going to swap the charger out for a type 2 or newer 9kw charger so I can charge with the newer charging stations. that to keep the charging time the same as the 2.5 hours now.

Hi charlie

sucks to hear you have problems with the battery pack, it's a little difficult to swap out the batteries for differnt / new ones if you don't have knowledge about batteries.

I am planning to rebuild the battery pack of my brammo empulse 2014 with LG Chem cells in 4S modules. and use the CMU's from the old battery pack so I dont have to reconfigure the whole canbus system.

It is at least possible to swap the whole battery pack for a new one with the same cell type. (Lithium-Ion) I can maybe give you some advise on the pack or replacement modules.

Kind regards,

Johan (netherlands)

Hi all users, this will be my first post, but I've been reading a lot since last year or so.
I bought mine on second handed with 30 000km (18 750 miles) with a B9 fault. then after a few rides the battery went from 90 to 0% and made me think that the batteries were having issues. I started checking one by one and measure their capacity.
some of them are dead, without any capacity to receive or give power, and some are still working. not as fine as I would expected, but currently I 'm buying them from china and replacing the bad ones. here are my results so far, there are still a few batteries to measure their capacity, but look promissing. at least I will be able to rearrange the complete pack of bateries and make them more even.
When I was riding the bike and it sopped, I checked the dash board, and it said that some slots were almost depleated while the others were better. That's why I disassembled all slots and check one by one.

I have already 40 batteries to replace and order 10 more. I built a excel sheet to help me to rearrange the batteries so in the end every slot having the same capacity as all (balancing the complete package  7x4=28 slots)

I got the exact same problem. on my first ride home I had 100% SOC and as soon as I hit the freeway (100km/h) the bike shut off.
The bike immediatly said 0% SOC. the thing is that i was able to drive home slowly. as soon as I hit the throttle the bike was shutting down again.

I am planning to swap the batteries out for completely different modules (from a volvo XC40) 4s3p * 7 with 196Ah.
so that totals to about 20kwh. the only thing is that the cmu's need to be swapped with the modules. as the bms has a rare canbus signal as far as I researched.

With all the new cells, how much range did you get ?

Hello, I've not been posting as far away from home however I would like to add to this thread. The Brammo or Victory software requires the rs485 to have a FTDI  chip. FT232RL USB to RS485 . On my bike the low battery warning displays at anything less than 20 per cent. gyvermc are you able to charge the batteries? The bike will shutdown to protect the batteries when the charge level is low.
Have you looked at the .drv or .chg files on the memory stick to see if it's one module causing issues. The battery software will flag some errors however the cells are not under load.
Interested to see how this develops. Great work.

Hi, I know this is a little off topic, but where were you able to find the software to read the CHG and DRV files from the log usb ?
