Brammo Empulse / Re: Empulse service in California
« on: June 26, 2019, 06:22:08 PM »
I currently have 8k miles on my 2014 Empulse. No issues to date, changed the oil myself. On its second set of tires. I replaced the chain because the factory one was just looking nasty.

Only sign of degradation is the battery only charges to 97%. For the last 4 years, I have always kept it fully charged. I never leave it at half charge for storage during the winter (I live in Maryland).

Basically, I abuse the crap out it and it has been great. I never use the clutch either, just let off the throttle a bit and shift.

I am actually really interested in the new Livewire or Revelation. I think it has the looks, but does it have DC fast charging (CCS). That is one thing that will sell me on it instantly. If no DC, then it's DOA.

That headlight looks pretty slick, I may have to look into doing something like as well. Those turn signals are also the best looking signals for our bikes (IMO), they match the lines very well.

My first windshield was a MRA V-Flow which worked well enough but I wanted something with a more refined look or factory finish. I then went with a Victory short screen for about a year and now bought a Victory tall screen since they were on sale.

The photos should speak for themselves comparing size and shape and overall look.

Woot! Thanks to djgipp, I bought a "tall" windshield to change out with the short one that I bought awhile ago. It will be the fall/winter shield while the short will be spring/summer. Pics will follow soon as well as a comparison/review since I have been using the short for just over a year now.

Checking cycletrader, there are several "new" Victory Empulses out there. A few are listed at around $8,500 (which may include the military/veteran discount). I recently put a $500 deposit on one in Arizona even though I live in Maryland and have Brammo Empulse already.

If you enjoy riding motorcycles, now is the time to snatch one up. Keep in mind, they can not go nearly as far as a Tesla, not even close.

Victory Empulse / Re: Who Owns a Victory Empulse TT ????

I just put a $500 deposit on a Empulse TT (listed on cycle trader for $6.9k) Hopefully in a month or so (however long it takes to ship from AZ to MD) I will be proud owner of a new Victory. I must say though, I am starting to have second thoughts. My Brammo Empulse has been reliable for 6k miles. Do I really want to risk a new bike? I need to keep saving for my Model 3 next year.......

Have you seen Victory's screens? They have 2 available for the Empulse, a short and a slightly taller one. I have the short version on my Brammo Empulse.

Here is a link to Victory's website page for the screen:

I agree as well. My next bike will most likely be a Zero. The deciding factor for me is CCS quick charging. The moment Zero, Victory or anyone else who comes out with a reasonably affordable bike with CCS, I would buy it in a heart beat. I know the Energica bikes have CCS, but I am not spending over 30k on a bike. Until then, my Empulse will have to do.

Holy Moly, $300 for a 3k service? I only paid $20 for a couple quarts of oil, plus 30 minutes to change it and then adjust the chain tension and check tire pressure. I may need to buy some brake fluid, the front brake is starting to feel a bit soft....

What I am trying to say is, $300 seems outrageous, $600 is simply ludicrous. It is too easy to do the maintenance yourself. The only time I would ever bring the bike into a shop is if there is a problem with the electronics or battery. That's just me though, not to mention, the closest Victory dealer to me is over an hour away.

My opinion: Not needed at all. Especially the way they are showing it in the video. It appears to be a integrated into the windshield, which means it will only be available for certain makes and models that they happen to make the windshield for; as opposed to a unit that can be attached to any windshield.

My Sena does a perfectly good job of relaying voice directions from google maps on my phone, in my pocket. (plus music and the occasional phone call if I choose to answer it)
