Since there's a number of Bay Area riders on here, I'm copying this from the BARF:

"Stolen from Bernal in SF this weekend, my trusty commuter friend for the past couple years.

White 2018 Zero SR, 23Z3347 (expired three days ago ), needs a new rear tire.

Let me know if you see it!"

At least we now know they are desirable enough to attract the scum of thieves. >:(

If you message me here, I'll pass it to where it needs to go.
Thanks.

Off Topic / Emflux from India
« on: March 28, 2018, 06:30:43 PM »
Found this in the current issue of MCN:

"The Emflux One is a new e-bike with a claimed top speed of 120 mph, range up to 120 miles, and is priced under $10,000. This Indian startup put its first electric sport bike prototype on display at the 2018 Auto Expo in New Delhi.

The Emflux one is powered by a single-speed, 80 horsepower, air-cooled motor and a 9.7 kWh cylinder Samsung lithium-ion cell-type battery. The motor controller limits max torque to 55 pound-feet, and max power to 71 horsepower. Emflux claims a 36-minute charge time via a WRP fast charger, or three hours from a 15A wall charger.

The bike’s claimed weight is a remarkable 373 lbs. It features a tube-steel trellis frame, a single-sided trellis swingarm, Brembo ABS brakes with regenerative braking, optional Ohlins suspension, a 6.8-inch TFT touch display, dual front and single rear cameras, built-in navigation system, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 4G connectivity and a custom-designed Emflux NEXT user interface, all built around an NVIDIA Jetson TK1 (Tegra) embedded CPU, with realtime vehicle diagnostics.

It’s geared for 120 mph, and 60 mph in 3 seconds… If all the claims hold up in the final product, this should be one amazing bike.”

Brammo Empulse / Brembo Master Cylinder Recall
« on: January 03, 2018, 03:54:52 PM »
On another forum, I just read that Brembo master cylinder PR16 has been recalled. Seems like the piston is made of plastic and can crack, leading to total loss of front braking power. Not good.

Does anyone know if this affects Empulses?

As a former owner of an Easy Racer recumbent bicycle with a full axle-to-face windscreen, I was interested to find this article:

https://electricmotorcycles.news/royce-creasey-opens-a-new-perspective-on-two-wheeler-dynamics/

I think this board has had a discussion of why Feet First motorcycles would never take off, but I'm not convinced that will hold in the future. 90 mpg at 75 mph is impressive.

Honda's NM4 Vultus is conspicuous by its absence. Dan Gurney's Alligator was raved about by racers who rode it, but the design never caught on. I guess we bikers are super-conservative after all. Still, I'd love to try one out.

"Polaris Industries, the company behind Indian and the now defunct Victory, are planning to release an electric motorcycle under the Indian name within the next five years, a senior executive has said."

This was published in MCN yesterday.

I found this 53 min. video to be well worth the time. Put electric transportation into a larger context. Very thought-provoking.

Also interesting: Southern California to San Francisco trip...

"He rode 450 miles with 9 fast charging stops, taking 23 minutes average each. Thanks to the on board fast charge and the ChargePoint Network, Bill was able to enjoy an exciting and unconventional journey on the Energica Eva, without any range anxiety."
