Bikes For Sale Or Auction / Re: Battery modules on ebay
« on: April 06, 2024, 06:04:41 PM »
Hey, that's a great find! I am really looking at learning to restore these batteries. I posted on another thread, just have had no leads . . .
Any chance you guys have seen the Battery Diagnostic Cable (PV-51900) for that Brammo Power Module Series?

I am humbled by your understanding and work! I need to do some diagnostics on my batteries and it seems pretty straight forward if I can connect to the BMS. I have the TT version and I believe the connections are far easier, although I can use some help also.
Does anyone know if this cable is available?

The depiction shows the different 'ESSENTIAL TOOLS' and too bad these weren't more readily available . . . we're ten years-ish into the Empulse/Enertia bikes and I hope the NEXTGEN are taking notes that we need  to communicate, diagnose, and repair faults on our bikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Johan and a pleasure to chat,
I am well over the 'sucks' part and committed to learning these systems. I appreciate your insights . . . I sure could use some help on 3 things with this B40 System Fault keeping the BMS in Idle Mode.
1.   Diagnostic connection for EMPULSE
I have the have the battery modules out and voltages are right on for both the upper (59.2V) and lower (44.4). I also downloaded Battery Diagnostics v1.0.11.41, are you aware of how I can connect to them, USB or special cable?
2.   12V System
Does the bike have a 12V system that could be causing this error?
3.   Wiring diagram
I am working with a car battery shop in the local area, they say the modules are well designed and easy to troubleshoot . . . it would be even easier if we had a schematic of the wiring, any chance you have one? I found one from 2014 but it does not include the module wiring and likely from the Enertia Series.
I am not against replacing the cells, although I still have not been able to locate them, can you direct me to where you found the LG Chem cells?

Kind regards, charlie

I know it has been 18 months and things look thin on the forum, but I just replaced the motor unit on my bike and it woke up with the B40 fault. I do not think I have the capacity to rebuild the battery, but I certainly believe I can remove/reinstall . . . anyone know of a person/business capable of a rebuild for me?
The bottom battery is flashing green, while the upper battery is completely dead. It sat uncharged for a year, I really struggled to find a motor unit. I believe if this bike genre is going to continue battery restoration has got to be part of the plan and it seems like some outfits are starting to crop up.

Brammo Empulse / Re: EmpulseTT Restoration Help
« on: September 28, 2023, 10:08:51 PM »
I have consulted several winding companies and that is my frustration! It is a normal procedure for electric motors, but our motor is definitely special. Recently, I have been working with the OEM and they say that it must be retooled to rather tight specifications . . . from that engineering team:
Here are the barriers:
1)   We do not salvage housings because it is too time-consuming and expensive.  The stators are shrunk-fit into the housing. They cannot be pressed out. However, if the stator is removed from the housing and the housing is not damaged, we have a chance that we can re-install the stator in your housing.  Re-iterating: the stator cannot be pressed out, do so will definitely damage the precious housing

Brammo Empulse / EmpulseTT Restoration Help
« on: September 23, 2023, 10:53:20 AM »
Looking to make an attempt at restoring my 2016 Empulse TT . . . I need to look up the production number, it is one of the later ones.
I have the original motor and a spare, both burned out, can anyone help with the retooling of the motor?
I have tracked down the original manufacturer and they no longer have the capacity to do the work or any spare motors.
Is it even possible, has anyone heard of it being done?
I believe that greatest obstacle to this technology becoming more mainstream is the community's ability to source parts and resources.

Brammo Empulse FAQ / Re: How to control the level of coolant?
« on: September 26, 2021, 12:02:15 PM »
I am starting to experience a bunch of temperature concerns . . . System faults B9 and S231, the temperature sensor on the lower right of display reads T709.1, and there is occasionally an odor that starts after riding a bit, is this related to coolant issues? I recently replaced the drive oil and have never maintained coolant, I really believe this is my issue, any other ideas?
