Title: Empulse delayed to 2012 according to Engadget
Post by: Xaero on May 09, 2011, 06:26:00 PM
http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/09/brammo-delays-flagship-empulse-electric-motobike-to-2012-teases/ (http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/09/brammo-delays-flagship-empulse-electric-motobike-to-2012-teases/)

"New tech" is the reason.  Could be that new transmission which would rock.  Could push the limits of the battery greatly which is what EV's need.

I note that one of the responders at the bottom of the referenced article mentions that he has pre-order number 1010, which contradicts engadget's comments. That is a good sign. It would appear that Brammo has reached their marketing goal and maybe someone will getting a new free Empulse - when they finally become available.

:D This is old news. Pre-order customers got the email last week. ;)

Why is the encite and ecite so expensive. Like Empulse pricing?

The website is now calling the 2012 model the 'Empulse RR12'. I take that to mean 120mph/120mi range and probably due to 6spd IET. Maybe more powerful/efficient,swappable batts like the moto models? This might make the room for the IET on present frame and fairing............ ::)

BTW, my pre-order # is 1015. ;)

That's just the new name of the Empulse RR race bike as far as I can tell, I dont think it is meant for production. No IET on the RR, at least at this point. It's a nice thought though.

Don't seee a reason it couldn't apply to a production model. The IET and swap batts are good to go on smaller production models. I would bet SMRE(sp?) would have an IET model for a 40kw motor ready to go now. This would be the next logical progression for the Empulse line. Just don't break the 14k USD price line, as proven Ducatti models look very, very attractive then. :-\

I'm very bummed about the delay but I am grateful they're not just cranking it out then coming out with a better version 8 months later (like everyone else in the tech world).

I am new to this scene and very enthused about it! If you guys are interested in a recent count (ordered mine on the eighth of May), I'm #1121.

Yeah, as EB said, this is the race bike, not the retail Empulse.
