Brammo Empulse / Re: Empulse Front Sprocket

Thanks for the response, lamber!
The top result from your link was the listing I had linked directly to. Seems they got one in stock between the time we both posted. Just placed my order.

Brammo Empulse / Empulse Front Sprocket
« on: January 30, 2018, 12:23:05 PM »
I have about 12k miles on my 2013 Empulse and Im about due for a chain and sprocket replacement.
From the research I have done on the forum I understand that this is the sprocket to get?:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/JT-Heavy-Duty-Sprocket-JTF1439-14t-fits-Suzuki-GSX-R250-RK-89/201718272757?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

Looks like they are sold out though. Are there any other vendors that will ship to the US? Or is there another suitable replacement?

Any suggestions for rear sprocket and chain?

TIA!

Taxes, Incentives, Advantages / Re: EV federal car tax rebate may be axed
« on: December 11, 2017, 12:07:51 PM »
I could support this measure if it wasnt completely one-sided. There are a lot of tax breaks big energy enjoys that obfuscate the true price of a gallon of gas. Those would need to also go away for me to support this. The credit was designed to be phased out anyway.

I think we all know that the worst thing the EV tax credit program has going for it is that (some) people THINK it was a product of the Obama administration...

Brammo Empulse / Re: B55 Error, SOC Mismatch >30%

I road in last week and as I was heading to work on the highway the power cutout going from around 30% to 0% and "Recharge Required" message. I turned the bike off then back on, and off I went. Went to WOT and boom, same deal. So this next time I went easy on the throttle and eventually made it to work (5 more miles) with no more drama. Before this happened I was feeling a bit of a stutter at WOT. This has actually happened to me before, but at much lower SOC, like at 8-12%, and always in cold weather. Seems to run perfectly >60 degrees though. I have never had any issues charging though.

Victory Empulse / Re: Empulse TT Real World Mileage

I have a 2013 Empulse R and Im fairly certain I can get about 65 miles at 70-80mph. I think battery capacity is slightly less than the Victory TT too. I weigh 170 lbs for what its worth... no wind screen either.

And they are still selling new ones! ??? Heck, if your thinking about throwing $3k at the transmission, its almost worth it to spend a few grand more, get a new one and use your current bike as a donor bike. Right now I am seeing a handful listed on cycletrader.com for just under $6k. But with no parts or real warranty support, thats still high. I would pick one up today for $4k if only to part it out... perhaps sell the non-empulse-specific parts on eBay to recoup as much as I could.

I have around 12k miles on my Empulse R with ZERO issues so far... but I know the party has got to end at some point.

My hope is that Polaris is still hashing out the consolidation of the Victory brand, and the Empulse is just sitting at the end of the list of loose ends. Damn...

Found a few in this price range on cycletrader. 6k for an Empulse... thats an amazing price!

I suppose the only show stopper may be parts availability?

I talked to my local "Victory" polaris dealer and they said by law they will be required to carry parts for 10 years...

Thats apparently the case, but Im still wondering if we cant even manage to locate a front sprocket.

Not only parts, but who is going to perform warranty service?

I suppose thats another concern... Did you manage to find a front sprocket yet? There has got to be a cache of Brammo / Victory parts somewhere.

If these thing continue to get cheaper, it may almost be worth buying one for spare parts.  ::)

Hey stranger! Are you still riding yours?

Hey BF! I ride as much as I can. I have around 11k miles on mine now. I have not run into any issues but I must say that a new bike with a new warranty at 6k sounds very tempting... but it kinda sounds like parts availability for any Empulse may be a problem.

Brammo Empulse / Re: Power cut out
« on: July 24, 2017, 09:50:44 AM »
I have had this exact same thing happen to me too... Only when its cold out. Its kinda startled me a few times and luckily hasnt happened mid-turn yet. But its like all power goes out momentarily at which point my natural reaction is to twist the throttle a little more, then power comes back and I get a jolt. Its only happened a few times but definitely is concerning.

CAT's experience makes me wonder if they would swap or at least discount a Victory Empulse for you, Freepz. Heck, I have heard of them going new for around 6500 IIRC. That would get you into a new 5 year 100k warranty too... and still electric! Although the new Indian bikes are pretty sweet!

BTW, congrats on the new bike CAT!

Congrats, thats a solid deal. Kudos to your dealer for placing the customer first!

Quick (off topic) question. What camera did you use to take that excellent picture?

Maybe Polaris will start thinking about Brammo drivetrains in a Slingshot :)

I would say Lithium batteries are just as likely if not more likely to go up in flames like this.

Wut...? I have to disagree... How many Brammo's have spontaneously combusted?

I take a highway into work and its pavement about half the way, concrete the rest. This season they decided to resurface the pavement and it really sucked for a while. Were talking a HUGE drop on the grooved surface and it would really pull your motorcycle around... Some nasty shit. The concrete though seems like it requires minimal maintenance. Concrete can get VERY slippery during the winter though. That stuff gets iced over and all bets are off.
