Brammo Empulse / Re: Empulse Launch Event!
« on: May 09, 2012, 01:38:33 PM »
So I am one of the few who pre-ordered the 6k, specifically because of the price.  $10k I might be able to justify for a daily commuter, but I was pretty disappointed the hear, after nearly a year of following this amazing journey, that the production model will be twice that.

With state and fed rebates and credits running out, and the price doubling, we are now comparing this bike to the fastest, most powerful, and most technologically advanced motorcycles currently in production (Panigale, S1000RR, F4 RR, and ZZR1400 are all the same price or less).

I'm jealous of all of the early adopters out there that have the wallet for this, and I'm really sad that I'm not one of them.  The bike looks amazing and is technically everything I could ever want.  I will continue to watch and hope that the industry continues to grow and the price of these things comes back down to something more realistic.

Excellent work to all those at Brammo that are pushing this stuff in the right direction and congrats on yesterday's release.

That pic also checks in at Marryhill Loops Road, the same location in southern Washington that Icon shot their latest spot with Apex!

The pinnacle of production value has to be Ducati's spot in Tron Legacy:

Tron Ducati Sport 1000 Scene

And I think the magic is in the music.  You're most likely not going to get a piece of the Tron IP or Daft Punk to do the track, but I don't think anything matches an eBike better than some pulsing electronic music in a world that is completely electronic.

Shoot it downtown, at night, scrap the dialog and find a good composer.  You need to shoot something that makes people say, "Holy $#!+, what was that?"

Taxes, Incentives, Advantages / Re: Colorado, revisited

I am all for the improvements and new lineup.  If it brings a better product in the end, and means that Brammo will have a better chance of success, I don't have much of an issue with the wait until next year for the Empulse.  (The fact that I am already riding something else at the moment helps a lot  ;) )

My only concern is the availability of state tax credits next year.  Brammo knows that EV credits are going a LONG way in helping sell their bikes, so if Colorado's credits aren't in place next year as well, they are going to miss (in my purely anecdotal opinion) a significant number of sales.

I hope for my own sake, and for the sake of Brammo's success that these EV credits continue at least one more year so viable products like the Empulse can gain some traction.

Brammo Empulse / Re: Upright Riding Position Option For Empulse?
« on: January 24, 2011, 02:46:58 AM »
Love the superbike bars.  Almost identical to what I eventually put on my CB750, and what came on my Street Triple, which has the best position and geometry of any bike I have ever ridden.  Not that bars are a huge deal to change, the more this thing sits like the Triple, the better.  I love to see updates as we near launch.

Pegs still look a bit high, but yeah it's tough to tell.

Exactly, so if they say that the Empulse is similar in "performance" to a CBR250R or a Ninja 250R, then that's a savings of $5,096 on a 6.0, and $8,496 on a 10.0!

Who wants a 6.0 for $3,899? Or a 10.0 for only $200 more?  THIS GUY.  SOLD.

But if they say that they are similar to a SV650, then the savings drops to $2,121 and $5,521 respectively.  Any model much higher than that, and there is nearly no savings.

For those of us looking to jump on that Empulse bandwagon early, where they call this one means everything.  Brammo needs to start fronting that savings into some power-lobbying!

Great link.  Somehow I had not found that one yet.

So continuing the discussion now that all the facts are clear, the savings we will see in CO is completely dependent on what vehicle is deemed "same or most similar."  Basically, the cheaper that comparable ICE motorcycle is, the bigger the savings we see when buying an Empulse.

Any way we can convince the CO Dept of Revenue that the Empulse is close to a CBR250?  Or a GS500?  I know the quotes we have heard are that it's close to a SV650 in performance, but maybe for the sake of bumping up sales, can we start saying that it is closer to a GZ250?  It will go 100 miles and a 100 mph...

So beyond all concerns about release dates, and performance/efficiency numbers with regards to the Empulse, the deciding factor for surely all Empulse early adopters is going to price

Surely Brammo has targeted those states where tax credits are high like Colorado, because huge state and federal discounts make the decision to buy much easier.

When the Empulse's release day comes in Colorado, what do we know specifically about the Empulse?  Surely there have been some definitive research at Brammo giving specific estimates when it comes to Colorado's Alternative Fuel Tax Credit and how it will work with the Empulse.

If these estimates exist, could we see them? Are they comparable to the savings we currently see on the Enertia?  Will a 6.0 cost $6,000?  Less?  Will it even be approved for the Alternative Fuel Credit?

How Colorado's tax credit will work specifically with the Empulse I think will be the deciding factor for many in the state.

Well that got out fast  :)  Guess that's a good sign people are so interested in your products!

Thanks Brian.  Great footage.

What, are you guys busy or something?  A capital campaign, new facility, two new product launches, and who knows what else?  That's it?

Just kidding.  1080 GoPro?  Great news.  Unfortunately most video editing programs dismiss h.264 "lossy" format as non-editable because of the artifacts, but I do know that Apple's iMovie works with it.  You could get a plugin to work with it in WMM, but it might just be better to get a free converter (http://www.squared5.com/) and work with a lossless, more common format.  Should be some quality footage so thanks for the reply.  Can't wait to check it out!

Brammo Empulse / RR footage?
« on: November 20, 2010, 04:59:51 PM »

So I see a camera mounted on the RR here.  Any chance we could see that footage?  I think all of the raw race footage goes a long way to help customers see and hear the real speed of the bike.  For performance enthusiasts, and people looking at the transition from ICEs, this is about as close as we can get to a test ride.

Brammo Enertia Mods / Re: Saddlebags/handle center stand

Does anyone here have the Givi bags on their bike?  I am interested in how they mount specifically, and how much weight the rear end can support.  Is it possible to get a pair of larger panniers on that thing?  If so, now we're talking a real commuter bike!

Brammo Empulse / Re: Anyone Interested in Fairings?
« on: October 18, 2010, 01:56:58 PM »
I just wanted to weigh in on the fairings discussion, because it's something I feel pretty strongly about.  Brammo has done some incredible engineering with these EV bikes, and somehow matched it with a near-perfect aesthetic.  I'm not sure how they got so lucky in the design and engineering departments...

I am completely bias because I have been riding streetfighters and cafe racers my whole life.  I love them.  They stand out amount the endless seas of Gixers and CBRs.  Please do not cover up the one thing that sets these bikes apart.  The batteries are beautiful on the Empulse.  The frame design is unlike anything on the road.  A water cooled electric motor?  These things are one of a kind.  Let's not cover it up.  Streetfighters are about distilled performance.  They are no fills, no nonsense, purely functional racing machines.  Put fairings all over it, and it's going to get lost.  Boring!  Having the wind in your face is what riding is about.

I'll buy into the "tank", - something has to cover up the electronics I guess - but you could even lose the tail fairing.  What is it good for anyway?  Show off what makes the Empulse special.  90% of us are here because the Empulse caught our eye

Oh, its electric?  Cool!

Trip Reports / Re: Riding the Enertia at night
« on: October 18, 2010, 01:40:27 PM »
I just wanted to go on record Brian in saying that I too love the look of the reflector stripes.  I love the Enertia in white, I love the brown seat covers, I like all the experimentation that you guys are putting into the aesthetic.  I think customization is something motorcyclists love by nature, and all these options and directions you are taking the bikes in are positive indications of Brammo's focus.
