I don't quite know what to think of this new Lightning model. It is hard for me to wrap my head around the performance and the advertised price, unless there is some slight-of-hand going on.
About the same performance with half the price of the Energica bikes. How does that "pencil out"?:

Those are some lofty goals hopefully they can achieve. I hope the range they mention is at freeway speed because the LS-218 was suppose to be freeway speed.

Here is Lightning's first attempt at a budget motorcycle. I can't recall what the price was at the time, but I think it was more that their latest model and had only a fraction of the range and performance. I don't think they sold more than one or two.

I forgot to add that the photo of that red bike was taken five years ago. Lightning seems to be good at designing motorcycles, but not so good when it come to actually manufacturing and selling them. Maybe it will be different this time?

I'll add my name to the "skeptical" column. I'd love for them to succeed and disrupt and all that, but, even besides the bike and the incredible (as in, not credible) price point, you need a dealer network, mechanics trained to fix the bikes, and maybe a proven track record of sales, support, and users. You know, like Zero has and like Brammo might have had.

Wow thank you! What an interesting read, will all the details they've spilled in this article I'm not sure what they'll have left to unveil Thursday, but the look of the thing. Production begins in June? That's a good thing... Hope it's really possible. But shipping things from China takes a lot of time, esp nowadays. I'd be happy with 120 miles range for 13k...

The Lightning Strike was introduced today. It is kind of hard for me to believe that Lightning can sell this bike with the chassis, battery and drive train components at the advertised prices and still make a profit.
