Interesting instructions for Valence battery service:

Brammo Enertia has another type (U1-12XP), but I think it will look very similar inside the battery.

Here's a more professional way to get in:

I decided to look inside the Valence U1-12XP battery and I shot it all.
The procedure is as follows:
1) Insert the large screwdriver into the joint under the battery cover at all corners of the battery and release the battery cover
-
2) Disconnect the red cable inside the battery connected to the positive pole
3) Disconnect the black cable inside the battery leading to the negative pole
-
4) Flip the battery cover
5) Remove the insulation from the BMS module and unscrew the module from the battery cover
-
6) unscrew the black and yellow cables from the negative pole plate
-
7) Unscrew the communication connectors from the battery cover
8) The battery cover can now be completely removed
-
9) colored cables lead to individual battery cells, we can measure their voltage (black cable is ground)
to be continued...

Hey KaFr,
these are nice pictures and descriptions!
Was the battery pack damaged? Did you see some kind of corrosion inside, especially between the 18650 cells?
Greetings
Robert

Hello Columbo,
thanks, maybe it will help someone with the same problem.
The battery pack has not yet been able to get me out of the plastic packaging.
I'm going to do it when I have more time.
The only thing I know about the battery is that there's such a strange chemical smell on the inside.
See you later

Hello, and who could fix it?
-
My friend has already disassembled the battery completely. There were several corroded cells inside. I'll add photos later. Battery cells can be completely replaced with new ones or replaced with another type.
-
That would be a great service to be able to replace and upgrade the inner cells
-
I attach the promised photos of the completely disassembled battery:

are those 18650 LiPo cells?
how many?
essentially a big e-bike pack?
-
Yes, the battery cell type is 18650.
The total number of battery cells is 120 pieces.
data for one battery cell:
LISHEN VALENCE PROVEN
IFR-18650EC
LIFePO4
3,2V
1500mAh
-
so what if you replace them with 18650 3500mAh 3,65v Li-on?
more then double the range :P?
needs a differnt BMS for sure :o

Interesting. Keep us updated!

Hi KaFr,
How did you get the batteries out of the box, the pack is glued on the bottom of the box i think.
On the pictures it looks like you are taking out the cells one by one?
-
Hi there, a datasheet for the valence U1-12XP module(higher discharge C rate )
-
I disassembled and reassembled a valence battery, not that difficult...
-
Please forgive my ignorance, but how did you cleanly remove the copper plate? I've got about 9 of these battery packs I'm going to salvage and build my own custom pack for another application.
-
Hello everyone,
I was able to find the exact specifications of the cells inside the Valence battery module.
-
Anyone successfully rebuild the Valence and get it to work?
-
I need to replace some cells in mine...
-
Finally got communication with my batteries. Despite them being stored at 0.0v since 2013, all but one recharged to full capacity. None of them have more than 7 charge cycles.
I used a FTDI FT232RL USB to RS485 Converter with a M12 Female Straight 5 Pin Connector pigtail

So I'm about to open up this one now and see how many cells I need to buy.
