Title: CA cuts EV rebates
Post by: Richard230 on December 04, 2019, 05:41:06 PM
According to an article on the front page of the SF Chronicle, as of today, California is cutting back electric vehicle purchase rebates. They will no longer be offered for vehicles selling for over $60K and for plug-in hybrids that have a range of less than 35 miles on battery power. Also, rebates for cars will be lowered from $2,500 to $2,000, except for families with incomes under $51,000, in which case their EV purchase rebate will be $4,500.  If you purchased an EV prior to today, you have until mid-March 2020 to apply for the rebate on that vehicle.

Naturally, there was no mention of electric motorcycle rebates, which are currently $900. But then I can never recall ever seeing anything about electric motorcycle rebates in the press.

One other change is that EV purchasers can now only receive one rebate during their lifetime.  The limit used to be two rebates.  Apparently, I got lucky, as I received a $900 rebate for the purchase of a 2012 Zero S, a 2014 Zero S and my current 2018 Zero S.  Someone wasn't keeping an eye out for me, I guess.    ;)

Heh I was talking to some of the Energica riders during the ev event and they said that the rebate program runs out of money sometimes.  So best to get on the list asap.
