Brammo Empulse / Diagnostic screen while charging
« on: June 05, 2023, 01:11:44 AM »
Hi,

without success I have searched the manuals, this forum and the web for information how to interprete this screen. "V" an "I" is clear: Voltage and Current. But what about "Tp", Ts", "Js", "Err" and "S".

Does anybody what they mean?

Regards,
Ralph

Brammo Empulse / Re: B55 Error, SOC Mismatch >30%
« on: March 11, 2019, 10:52:59 AM »
I think it fits into this thread and keeps the info in one place, so I post it here:

Empulse E1 2014, 25.000 km:
Last Saturday I rode home in heavy rain and storm at about 5°C when suddenly SOC went from about 25% to 0% at 10 km from home. I had seen similar drops on previous drives before in cold weather (0-5°C) at about 15-20%. But this totally surprised me.

I could still reach a friend's home and recharge for half an hour. When I came back to the bike it showed System Fault B55. Not knowing what it meant I tried to drive and finally got home. I recharged to about 50% and the error was gone.

Then I started researching and found this topic which explained a lot. I just had a look at the logs and attached is what happened.

Seems to me that first while driving all modules have similar SOC, then suddenly at 25% module 6 dropped to 0%. During the first charge all SOCs increased similarly and decreased again during the ride home. Then while charging, module 6 SOC kept up to the others. Now it's up to 100 % since then and I didn't ride again due to bad weather.

Do I have to worry about bad cell(s) in module 6? Any other interpretations?

Regards from Germany

Köterberg and back is about 80 km for me. That works fine.

I'd be happy to meet another Brammo rider no matter what bike he is currently on.  ;D

I am regularly at the Tonenburg but mostly on concerts.

Welcome Eratosthenes.

I read "OWL" and almost couldn't believe it. You're not far away from me, I live near Holzminden in south Lower Saxony. I am a happy Brammo Empulse rider since 2014 and almost 20000 km.

I know two Zero riders in our area. Maybe we can arrange a meeting on the Köterberg next year (see: https://www.goingelectric.de/forum/veranstaltungen-deutschland/e-motorrad-treffen-auf-dem-koeterberg-t17276-50.html?hilit=k%C3%B6terberg#p626095)

If anybody is interested in my experiences after 1000 km, written in German:

Thanks for the link. It's interesting. I just rode a rented C Evolution for almost 1000 km and find it great. If it had a 3-phase 11 kW charger I might trade in my Empulse for it.

Apparently, in spite of the low max. charging current for the modules, the 12,5 kW battery of the Long Range model should still allow to double or triple the low available charging power of 3 kW

AFAIK,  the German dealer www.mms-concept.de has just sold out his last new Empulse. However, he will have some used Empulses for sale starting May 2016 from the test drives he is offering. He might be able to help with your questions.

My dealer told me yesterday, there's hope to get the original Brammo tall windshield in the not so far future. Investing a little patience I think I'll wait for it. I prefer the mounting and the look of it.

Another question came up watching your photos with the windshield:

What do you think about the intransparent lower area? I could imagine it hinders the view of the ground directly in front.

Didn't know that buffeting is such an issue with windshields. I know it from some cars while driving with open windows. If it is similar on a motorbike with a windshield, I can imagine that it is annoying.

MRA seems to have two options of mounting spoilers: one requires drilling, the other is clipped on the upper end of the screen.

Thanks for your responses.

You are right regarding "huge". There are much bigger ones. I have to balance between wind protection and the sporty look. Not yet sure...

MRA has several alternatives. Maybe I would tend to buy the one without the top spoiler for optical reasons. I have no experience with windshields. Do you think the spoiler is worth it?

Did you experience a gain in range?

Is it this one:

When I zoom into the picture it seems to say Typ WNB KBA 37960.

It's really huge IMO.

I've ordered the tall Brammo windscreen and was told that it is not deliverable. Sad, since winter is coming here in Germany, it's getting colder and I want to ride, ride, ride...
