Title: Changing grips...
Post by: zappa on September 06, 2016, 11:33:00 AM
Call me stupid but I don't understand how I should be able to take off the grips, or more exact the handlebar plug. Is just brute force (after the screw has been removed)?

Mine are stuck real hard but I haven't had the guts to force them out, it's not even registered in Sweden yet so just some small farkling is going on (heated grips and GPS mount).

Cheers,
Zappa

Here's a trick I learned relatively recently. Take the thinnest flat head screwdriver you have and slide it under the grips. Lift it up a little bit and spray windex or some other household cleaning spray. Repeat a couple times around the grip. Then start rotating the grip back and forth and it should loosen up and slide off easily. Similar process for getting it on, give it a couple hours, maybe a full day to dry up.

Yes I know the trick with windex. I was talking about the end cap that feels like it's stuck solid.

Well a good old whack with the rubber mallet (and a closer look at the parts fische (sp?) ) and I got it loose. Thought the construction within the handlebar was different.

So now the grips are in place just needs a few bits for the 12v connection and then I can get my fingers warm as well. :)

Very sharp looking.
Notice any functional difference due to the new levers?

Better change gear also braking on track, only need small touch on levers

Nice one...

I just went for the heated grip since the fall is coming to Sweden and it's starting to feel a bit nippy in the morning.

If I just could get the damn bike registered soon so I can start using it THIS year...  :'(
