I've been toying with making a tidy tail in CAD. I've made one designed to take a LED strip for the brake light and turn signals. Not 100% sure of fitment and wondering if anyone had a 3D printer and could try it out. My other option is I could order it from makexyz.com for $40 (not bad for a tidy tail).

The idea of this was to make it as cheap as possible to print. So compared to my first model there is a lot less material here. It's still pretty strong though for sure. Mine is printed from the strong and flexible plastic and it lives up to it's name. The non polished ones have a bit of a fine grit sand paper like texture to them. Shapeways also offers a metalized print that from my reading is stronger but maybe a bit more brittle because it is so stiff. Also for the deep pockets you could get it printed in stainless steel but I don't feel that is needed.

It is stuck on with 3M double sided tape. I designed the bracket to have a groove on top and bottom that the strip fits firmly between and hides the 3M tape.

The 3M stick should hold up fine its the same stuff you attach Go Pros to helmets with. The plastic would need 175 degrees Fahrenheit to degrade. Also for extra rigidity I used the spacer like a washer. The plastic is sandwich between the spacer and the bike.
It is surprisingly stronger than I thought it would be. I probably could have made it a bit thinner and used a little less plastic and for $45 (plus $15 for LED strip and like $5 in connectors) its a lot cheaper than other options I've seen.
Right now its zip tied to my passenger pegs. I'm thinking about making a bracket to attach it to the pegs properly next.

Awesome will do! I ordered all the connectors and light you recommended. Quick question though, does it have a plate mount?

No plate mount. It would have increased the the price of the print considerably to add the needed structure plus it wouldn't positioned the plate where I personally was looking to place the plate. Currently my plate is zip tied to my passenger peg supports.
I actually had a model produced and ready to order a print of 2 clips that would tension the plate between the passenger peg supports but just as I was putting the final touches on it the CAD tool I was using crashed and I lost the model. I'm sure you could understand why I haven't worked on it since lol. Luckily I do most my designing on paper before I do it in CAD so I still have all my notes and could probably reproduce it with a days work. If this is something you might be interested in that might give me the motivation to model it again.

I just installed the original tidy tail on a 2016 Empulse TT. Great piece for a great price. I used L-brackets for the plate, and angled the plate slightly...

I placed an order for the plate holder. I will test it once I get it and if everything checks out I will post it for sale on shapeway. It's look like it will be about $20.

Update:
Got my first print in. They work but they don't click on exactly as I would like so I made a few adjustments and ordered another set. If you want you can ordered the modified set right now or you can wait a few weeks for me to get my new set in and post some pictures of them installed.
