Title: BMW C-Evolution scooter arriving in California soon
Post by: Richard230 on August 01, 2017, 10:12:21 AM
Better late than never.  It is coming to a California BMW dealer near you.  Pretty decent price for an electric vehicle, especially one made and supported by BMW. The performance is not bad, but not quite comparable with the Brammo/Victory Empulse for top speed.  But it surely will be better supported by their dealers and there is a hint that more electric motorcycles may be on the way:  http://blog.motorcycle.com/2017/07/31/manufacturers/bmw/2017-bmw-c-evolution-electric-scooter-launching-california/ (http://blog.motorcycle.com/2017/07/31/manufacturers/bmw/2017-bmw-c-evolution-electric-scooter-launching-california/)

Can't seem to find range information, other than the U.S. version will be long range only.

It might be nice if it was actually a BMW manufactured scooter, unlike their IC scooter which has a Chinese engine and final drive and may be entirely sourced/manufactured in China.  After my Vectrix and now my Victory Empulse I am getting a bad feeling about electric 2 wheel machines. >:(

Article says it's 99 miles.

I have two concerns:

Weight is listed in a comment at 606 lbs. Porky!

Article says it has a CVT transmission. Why?? On scooters I've had, I always felt that they were transmitting power in a not-very-efficient way. But I have no actual measurements to support that feeling.

My guess is that the CVT transmission comment is an error and the author got that and the comment about an electrically adjustable windshield wrong.  I guess we will find out when it is reviewed or we get more official specifications from BMW.
