Honestly, I just don't see a market for an electric HD.  Example:
I commuted to work in Austin on my bikes, BMW and my Brammo E+.  Get to work on the Brammo one day, and as I'm removing my gloves and helmet a guy parks next to me on his HD and has to gun his engine right prior to killing it (which is bad, leaves unburnt fuel in the cylinders, which trickles down to the rings).

But, that mentality, the "gun 'er for the grunt and grumble" is just _so_ stereotypical HD rider.  Younger and newer riders looking for something green (or, just inexpensive) have a specific mindset, and it puts them diametrically opposed to the likes of HD.  Also, $30k is well out of their budget.  HD's sales have been sagging partially because they honestly lack market savvy (many examples exist, include ceasing the V Rod production, their most reliable and best performing bike, as well as scrapping Buell before realizing that it was actually rather profitable).  They don't understand the market for eMotos, they don't understand the mindset (or the wallets) of the people looking to buy one.

My turn for "After watching the video..."  I'm used to seeing track days require glass, like headlights, be taped over, but they're not here.  Is that not a universal standard, or did the new owner get lax?

In India the standard voltage (3 phase) rating is ~220v-240v and at 15 amps the charging rate is about 3.3kw so 3 hours to charge a 9.7kw battery pack is right.

A yamaha fz-07 is approximately $10,000 inclusive of all import duties. This one would have to import batteries, the motor and related components. So maybe $10k is not too much of a stretch. (maybe?)

I'm not certain about currently but ~2013 Samsung was working on getting LiON production up in India and S.Africa.  If they managed to get the former online and was still currently active that would remove import duties on their power source.

Bikes For Sale Or Auction / UPDATED: 2013 Enertia Plus For Sale
« on: March 16, 2018, 12:28:43 PM »
UPDATE 05.12.21:  Still for sale, price drop!  Life got chaotic, and effort towards selling went to the back burner.
NOTE: The bike has developed the V78 error, which means the button battery is dead and the clock will not retain time.

OLD:
This bike is mine.  It's has had one major problem, a bad charger when new, which was replaced with a new unit.  Other expected wear items (eg fork seals) have been addressed.

Short: ~2,200 miles.  Asking $2500.  Bike is in Southern California (Riverside County, Corona).  Titled in NV under my name, "non-op" status, so no current plates/registration.  Extras included.

Long:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1JpJrX30IOGomXyy1H8JT4SEiwTdbEYco?usp=sharing

Please forward the PDF linked above widely and freely.  Interested parties please contact using the email address in the PDF, I don't check the forums regularly.

Cheers!

Brammo Enertia Servicing / Re: super dead battery.
« on: March 16, 2018, 11:58:46 AM »
update.

I was able to get the batteries charged.  I pulled all 6 batteries and but each one on a 12 volt charger for about 10 min on a low amp charge.  Then I put all the batteries back into the bike and plugged in the charging cable and I was able to get the bike charged all the way up to 100% with the bikes charger.  Life is good and I am riding the bike now.

Very good news!

Make sure you leave it plugged in overnight (or, nights!) after it hits 100%.  The software goes in to balance mode to make sure each cell is as close to other cells as possible.

Off Topic / Re: BMW dealer sells Energica motorcycles
« on: March 16, 2018, 11:56:29 AM »
The price has dropped again.  That is a lot of motorcycle for only $16,100 for the Eva and $17,100 for the Ego (without Energica's expensive accessories). Calmoto just shipped a 2017 Energica Ego to a customer in Texas.  What I hear is that it is easier to sell electric motorcycles to Texans than to people in Silicon Valley where the shop is located.  :o

I bought my Enertia+ from a BMW dealer in Austin.  The following Monday MotoGP was ending and on their way back to Oregon Brammo stopped by the shop and took all the bikes they hadn't sold.  Lost my dealer within 48 hours.

I know there were... 3? 4? Brammos on the road (spread across Austin and Dallas) but that's it.

Brammo Enertia / Re: How many amps while charging?
« on: October 16, 2017, 02:54:47 PM »
Note:  I have an Enertia +, not a base Enertia, so my values may be different.

I see a nominal 9 amps, but I think I see spikes to 11.  I believe a 15A circuit is recommended.  If we assume they made the smart call and pad 20% overhead, that means they expect it to run at 12A.  Personally, I'd spend a few bucks extra on the shortest cord with a minimum of 15A rating.

Brammo News And Views / Re: Cummins acquires remaining Brammo assets

Annnd.... anyone with batteries still under warranty?  I know dealing with a Polaris dealer for warranty service on my forks was a major PITA, wondering how this additional layer on the electric side is going to muck things up for us.

Brammo Empulse / Re: Parts/Service
« on: May 22, 2017, 03:54:40 PM »
My daughter's 2012 Zero has had the same sort of issue.  About once a year it just dies while she is riding it on the freeway. Coming to a stop and rebooting the bike gets it running again. (That is pretty scary and she now tends to stay away from freeway travel.)

Some 2016 Zeros also have been reported to be having this specific problem, with the bike dying without warning while riding at freeway speeds. So it is nothing unique and if there is a fix, no one has discussed one yet. However, there has been some talk (which makes sense to me) that is a safety feature of the Sevcon controller.  If the voltage in one of the battery modules sags below a certain point while under stress it will shut off the power to save the batteries. That could very well be what is happening.  ???

I'm considering swapping to a Zero in the next year or so.  Then again, I may get another BMW GS since I miss distance rides and camping in the Mojave. :)

But!  I heard there was a recall for some 2016 Zeros, IIRC some models were flashed with firmware for another model, and I think it was messing up ABS.  Would that cause a full shutdown?  I doubt it.  They're not without their problems, they're a small company that already has a fairly diverse product lineup, may be pushing the boundary on that "bit of more than they can chew" level.

Brammo Enertia Plus / Re: system fault c3
« on: May 22, 2017, 03:44:08 PM »
I don't know about the red/green, I have not accessed my battery packs.

For balancing, Brammo recommends plug the bike in until it is 100%, then leave in.

I have a 2013 Enertia Plus, here is what I remember reading:
While charging, if you can access the diagnostic screen (on my Plus, the dash buttons can be used to display the screen) you can see H and L, the highest and lowest value seen.  After 100% is reached it should go in to balance mode where it tries to ensure that each cell gets the proper charge individually.  The maximum difference should be 0.1 volts (mine currently shows 0.011), anything more than that and a battery pack is bad.  I am hoping that maybe you unplug it immediately at 100% and have not let it balance, and maybe leaving it to balance can slowly correct your problem.

Welcome Forum / Re: Why not a Wiki?
« on: March 31, 2017, 01:18:09 PM »
Taking a look at the wiki, I realize the text on model specifics is probably from glossies or announcements from Brammo.  But, I find this, #7 for the Enertia+ :

"Auto-start module integration – The bike now starts with the key switch and does not require the button press. Button has been replaced with a nice stamped aluminum Brammo bull head badge. The bike also charges when plugged in to AC power. No special key position or steps required. Fork does not need to be locked in order to charge."

I have an E+, and after key on, it does still require a button press; there is no Brammo badge anywhere.  The rest is correct, I suspect the text is what was intended to be released but might not have made it in to final manufacturing.  Not sure if you want to make an edit to that, or leave it as-is for historical perspective.

Also, Ryobi makes a battery-powered mower today.  Uses, I think, a pair of their larger cells, not the 18v ones most of their handtools use.
