Victory Empulse / Re: B40 fault B8 system fault
« Last post by charlielopez on March 27, 2024, 05:20:50 PM »
Hi Johan and a pleasure to chat,
I am well over the 'sucks' part and committed to learning these systems. I appreciate your insights . . . I sure could use some help on 3 things with this B40 System Fault keeping the BMS in Idle Mode.
1.   Diagnostic connection for EMPULSE
I have the have the battery modules out and voltages are right on for both the upper (59.2V) and lower (44.4). I also downloaded Battery Diagnostics v1.0.11.41, are you aware of how I can connect to them, USB or special cable?
2.   12V System
Does the bike have a 12V system that could be causing this error?
3.   Wiring diagram
I am working with a car battery shop in the local area, they say the modules are well designed and easy to troubleshoot . . . it would be even easier if we had a schematic of the wiring, any chance you have one? I found one from 2014 but it does not include the module wiring and likely from the Enertia Series.
I am not against replacing the cells, although I still have not been able to locate them, can you direct me to where you found the LG Chem cells?

Kind regards, charlie

Damn Patrick,

that's a lot of measuring voltages.

I'm going to be using LG Chem (volvo) modules. 4S3P for each module. I am planning to reuse the CMU's from the old modules.
The total pack would weight about 91KG, so about 20kg more than the original pack. (one module is 13KG)

The new batteries will be in a waterproof enclosure.

Thanks for the input you gave me about the temperature censors. that's pretty good info to know.

Victory Empulse / Re: oil leaking from electric motor

SAE 10W-30 synthetic motor oil, wet-clutch approved,
API GL-1, qty: one liter

This what the manufacturer calls out for in the service manual
I put in what I had on hand. If the leak is stopped and I don't have to pull the motor again I will drain and fill with the required oil.
I honestly don't believe that the seal was leaking, I only changed it because I had already ordered it before I realized that the oil is actually coming from that key way.
The bike is still not leaking and it has been on the side stand for a week.

Cheers

Had a problem with this battery cutting out on me when I hit jumps and bumps hard when I was riding in Moab and in the last supermoto race.  I suspect it was this breaker, Litespeed Bikes doesn't make batteries with this breaker anymore but it is handy to have when connecting the battery.  I have yet to see if this cured the problem need to subject it to more rigorous testing..

First ride of the year 2024 and we take the Light Bee with the KO Swingarm for it first ride after installing it.

Changed the geometry of the suspension so now I gotta set the suspension sag again.  The longer swingarm creates more force on the shock so we need to up the spring rate!

Now that the swingarm is slightly extended how does that affect the travel.  Find out in this experiment.

Hi, I have a few questions:
Did you find out what was the cause of the damaged gasket?
Was it mechanical damage (locking pin in groove) or chemical damage (old or inappropriate type of transmission oil)?
Why did you choose the 10W40 specification, which has a higher viscosity than the one recommended by Victory (10W30)?
Won't it have an effect on higher losses in the gearbox and thus a shorter range?
Thanks a lot for answer.
