Brammo Enertia - Whats Yours Called?
« on: May 04, 2010, 09:51:02 AM »
I couldn't help noticing that Enertia-ette has named her Enertia "Dorothy"..... which reminded me that last year I kicked around this idea or a campaign called  Enertia - What's yours called?
So what better place than the Brammo Forum to see how intimate Brammo owners get with their electric ride. Do you have a name for your Enertia? Is it male or female? Why? And if you dont have a name why not?  I know some of the Limited Edition owners call their bikes "9 of 30" but maybe they also have a pet name they only whisper in the garage as they turn out the light........

Well, I don't have one . . . yet.  But can I still play the game?

So, you noticed that my bike has a name, huh? Maybe a better question is "why" does she have a name.
Here is the story of Dorothy:
Some time back I did a blog post about one of the female pioneers of motorcycle riding, Dorothy Robinson. http://mtaes.wordpress.com/2010/02/17/i-wanna-be-just-like-dot-part-1/   Quite a woman with quite a story. When I bought my Enertia, I decided to do some custom paint. My friend Jason Sarratt at Hellcat Customs in Chandler, Az, recommended we paint the bike pink..the color Mrs Robinson chose to wear because of the sometimes negative opinions towards the black leather wearing Harley riders.
Jason is a master painter which can be seen in this example of his work http://www.bikerschurch.com/robdale/2010/04/09/my-new-paint/.  Jason has something up his sleeve to honor Mrs Robinson as a trailblazer. Rather befitting the bike I have chosen to ride beings I am from the "gas" powered motorcycle crowd. Since I have chosen to take a path less traveled and buy an electric bike, I have taken some teasing and been considered a bit of a trailblazer myself. I couldnt imagine calling her anything else.
So, now you understand the reason behind naming my bike. Its not just a cutsie "girl" thang...  :-*
I'll make sure I post pics of her panels being transformed. Dave Murray is going to help me install the new panels when they return home! He sure is a great guy!!
Thanx for noticing that my bike had a name. Now you know why! ;)

That's a great story thanks for sharing...I learnt something new about US motorcycling history. I did read some research that 70% of car owners have a name for their car but I have never seen anything for motorcycles. I am guessing it is more of a girl thing......
I never planned to name my Enertia but when I went to DMV I was planning on getting the licence plate RE-VOLT - but that was already on a blue Toyota Prius so I chose AMPS and since then everyone refers to it (her ?) as AMPS.
Maybe a 100 years from now someone will nickname it GRAMPS - I hope so :-)

Gramps...I love it!  ;D
I know big burley Harley dudes that name their bikes. Its rather like guys naming their boats, they feel this huge personal connection. They name them "womens" names, too. Almost all of them!! "NOT" a girlie thang..
You and AMPS ride safe.

I know it's kind of strange, but I've come to know it as "The Beav."  Thanks to Adrian bringing that word into usage, based on a very strained acronym of Brammo E[A]Vangelist of the Year.  I don't think it's going to stick, though, as "I'm going for a ride on the Beav" is not something I feel comfortable saying around the house.

Maybe I'll have to come up with something new.  What do Brian and Aaron call theirs?
