Is there any hard data to back up the poll anywhere? As in less rear end accidents reported, less overall accidents, or higher amount of motorcycle-at-fault accidents since lane splitting was made legal?

Is there ever any scientific evidence to back up phone interview polls published in the press? They all seem like just opinions to me. Sort of like "testimonials" that seem to be used in advertising more and more lately. I guess it is better than nothing and can be entertaining, but I take it all with a big grain of salt - like I do everything I read on the internet.
