According to Charles Fleming in the Los Angeles Times:
BMW and VW announced they are teaming up to build 100 fast-charging stations by the end of 2015 in “express charging corridors” from Portland OR to San Diego on the West Coast and Boston to Washington, D.C., on the East Coast. The stations will be able to charge BMW and VW electric vehicles, along with the Chevy Spark EV, to 80 percent power in less than half an hour. They also will feature Level 2 chargers. The goal is to one day accommodate all models of electric cars, including the Tesla, which currently has its own proprietary charging ports.
