All new Roehr eSupersport
« on: May 06, 2011, 11:08:27 AM »
I gotta say, I am pretty impressed with Roehr's latest creation. Huge improvement over last years eSupersport. Honestly was imagining myself on the thing, scary thought. But then I saw the price-tag and the specs... and then I realized that this was basically an electrified Hyosung GT650R.

Props to Roehr though. Nice looking bike, I hope they do well with it.

The new 2011 ROEHR
eSuperSport

100% electric
100+ MPH
75 Mile range

Available Now

$17,995

A bit cheaper than I thought it would be...and available now?

Not bad....not my style and I wish the range, for 18k, was a bit more...but they could sell a few as they have no current competition.

Perhaps Brammo should re-think waiting on the Empulse? Eh, either way...Roehr isn't going to sell a ton of them just yet, so Brammo could wait...but it does show the slippery slope of working on a product and never selling it...Roehr today, maybe Honda tomorrow....and that would be a much tougher situation. Brammo wants to be well situated before Honda comes a knockin with product as competition.

That looks like a nice bike and it makes sense to use a production motorcycle chassis. Unfortunately, the major motorcycle press has been less than enthusiastic about the Hyosung 250/650 chassis performance. Road tests have complained about poorly sorted suspension and brakes, along with an overall weight about 50 pounds heavier than comparable 600/650cc IC models. However, the chassis is strong and apparently has decent geometry and handling. I wish them well and hope to read a test of the new model in the press soon.

No doubt it has some good points, namely seating for 2. An $18,000 price tag is more than a bit high. I agree Brammo needs to get the lead out and get to market. They have a better priced product as near as we can tell ready to sell and are just waiting on something to begin large scale production. If they aren't careful Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha will beat them to market with a usable product, and they already have the dealship network in place.

Brammo's doing some great things with R & D but they need to get to market while it's hot! Gas at $4.00 per gallon is a good time to go.
