Part III of Steve Atlas' story on the Brammo Empulse RR

In the end it turned out to be a perfect weekend: pole position, led every lap, two race wins and demolishing both of the previous lap records by a healthy margin. Yes, it would have been nice if a few more riders had made it and the other big teams came out to play, but all we could do is beat whoever shows up to race.

Video:

Can't figure out how to shut off the autostart... I will replace this with the youtube version when they post it.  Usually it pops up a couple days later.

Any chance of Brammo getting a tranny on the RR and testing it before Laguna?

Probably not, but it would be hella cool to see what the RR does in a race with the tranny installed.

Still would like the TTR to be in the 75 race and see Brammo win both...but again Brammo probably won't be doing that...

Like Steve's writing style, but with a few errors I really wanted to proofread that article :)

I'm glad I wasn't the only one.  I had to edit the quote because I want everything to be prefect.  I mean, perfect. ::)

All this from a single-speed motorcycle that is yet to feature a transmission of any kind. Just think what it could do if it had a few cogs for the rider to select between....

Looks like Atlas is hinting at the possibility of getting some gears in there. ;)

Oh no doubt...the whole delay of the Empulse is to add the tranny...I imagine the RR will have to get a Tranny too...

But will it get a tranny for this racing season?

as for Mission Motors: putting here as it relates to TTGXP:

http://backmarker-bikewriter.blogspot.com/2011/05/mission-motors-motors-yes-cycles-no.html?spref=tw

well written...good story and background info. And having some insider dirt is always a good thing for a story...mmmm, intrigue....

Slightly sad story, but not surprising...and not even a "bad" thing.

It is a BEAUTIFUL bike...just hella sexy. I think it is easily the best looking EV out there. But there are lots of rides on the race tracks that nobody can buy. Having sexy bikes on the racetrack is a good thing, even if they can never be bought in a dealership. I hope Mission gets on the track and that they run fast. Still would like Brammo to win :) but a tight race is a good race in my book.

The only potentially scary part of that story is the thought that Mission isn't going to make motorcycles because Honda is going EV motorcycle soon.

That would make Brammo's job harder.

That said, It is silly not to expect Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki...heck BMW and others to go Electric. It WILL happen. What Brammo needs to do is get going first and get a cushion in time so they can develop a name and some cred. That will help. Joining up with a major would be huge too. I think Harley would be a good fit as Brammo and Harley would not be natural competitors. And Harley clearly needs some youthful foot traffic.

Of course being the EV side of Honda or Suzuki or somebody like that would rock...but I doubt Honda or another Japanese or German motorcycle maker would add Brammo to the fold...they will likely make their own EVs.

The Empulse RR preparations for the next TTXGP round at Laguna Seca during the MotoGP weekend continue...

We'll be facing some stiff competition if the likes of Motocyzsz (fresh off a 1-2 finish a the Isle of Man), Mission Motors, and Lightning come out to play.  We could use as many Brammofans and Brammoians at the race as possible for encouragement!  I'm hoping to see some of you there!
