Interesting. Could the European pricing for the (base) Empulse be as low as or lower than the top-end Zero?

machone says here that the Zero cost "about €15000". I assume this is the Zero ZF11.4. In the US this model costs $15995.

The 2012 Zero ZF9 pricing reportedly is €13999. In the US this model costs $13995.

Yup.

European Zero pricing is very easy to find out. Take the amount in USD, label it with EUR.
Brammo pricing is according to Hans Eder (European Brammo representive):
Empulse for 14900 + 249 shipping (thats official, at least one says only 99 shipping)
Enertia 6950 + 99 shipping,
Enertia+ 9500 + 99 shipping.

All numbers are inclusive VAT (15-23 through the EU, but mostly ~20%), exclusive shipping if not noted else.

My opinion:
Zeros pricing people are assholes.
Brammos Empulse is acceptable priced as the European version will be modified slightly and is VAT included. Then again, producing with Flextronics in Hungary could be much cheaper than building that thing in the US like the US-Version.
The Enertia is once again highpriced I think - remember that it is built in the EU itself (Hungary is part of the EU and has signed the Schengenabkommen), which means that it can be shipped to the whole EU without any customs. ~7000 EUR are  9000 USD which is a noteable increase to 8000 USD americans have to pay (is that VAT included or not?), and americans have still to pay for shipping the Enertia over the pond.
The Enertia+ is acceptable priced, i think.

2013 Zero pricing:
S ZF8.5 £11,695.00 or €13.995,00
S ZF11.4 £13,495.00 or €15.995,00
XU ZF5.7 £8,995.00 or €10.495,00

Zero has the same pricing structure for US vs UK as Honda, see here. So it seems like Brammo has cheaper European pricing than Zero. Combine that with heavily taxed European fuel, and you have a very short payback period.

Street Triple R is €9,190. €5,720 price difference between Empulse non-R would buy 3516 L or 929 gallons @ €1.627/L (average German fuel prices).

Street Triple R in the US is $9,599. $7691 price difference (w/ 4% sales tax) would buy 2204 gallons @ $3.49/gal (average US fuel prices).

Maybe something Empulse Buyer could add to his calculator : )

That I do second.

Those prices are quite different depending on your area. I even saw 1.80/L this summer (8.70$/G) - and that is quite great actually, people start walking again out of sheer necessity :D
Together with the fact that the Empulses range is enough to reach ~25 million of the 80 million people living here with ease (well, at least in some starting positions) the only thing preventing "Den Deutschen Michel" to get one is its proverbial stupidness, the inability to do even the roughest estimations.

As we are reaching another 5 percent points of green energy production in total (electric, not primary) energy production this year (the third year in a row and no forseeable reasons why that shouldnt continue at least for a while, its ~25% now, maybe higher) even the always loved "that energy has to produced in dirty coal plants" argument doesnt pull that well anymore.
