Manufacturer: Brammo, Inc.

SUMMARY: Brammo, Inc. (Brammo) is recalling certain model year 2013 Empulse motorcycles manufactured November 19, 2012, through June 18, 2013. The rear tail assembly bracket can fatigue and may allow the rear tail assembly to break off while riding.

CONSEQUENCE: If the rear tail assembly breaks off, it could contact the rear wheel, increasing the risk of a crash.

REMEDY: The remedy for this recall campaign is still under development. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Brammo at 1-541-482-9555.

Thanks for posting this information.

I wonder if this recall is what is causing the delay for the hard bags.  I would assume that there might be some interaction between the bag mounting hardware and the tail fix.

I'm not sure about that.  I think the recall may be based on the tail fail reported on this forum. I don't want to sound like some sort of cheerleader, but compare this one reported failure leading to a recall to the many reports (pages and pages) of an electrical "glitch" reported for months on a competitor's bikes on electricmotorcycleforum.com.

I believe the tail-tidy mod eliminates the issue, correct? Now if I could just get my hands on one.

I would think the tail-tidy mod should remedy the issue. Less weight on a shorter lever = less fatigue.

I had a chance to check out a 2013 Zero S recently. The tail mounting is similar (4 bolts holding on the license plate lever), but the lights are mounted directly to the tail. It felt sturdy to me.

I had my tail replaced-the one on my Empulse- and the new one looks OK. I like the shorter tail but the old original one had a more finished and cleaner look. I was a bit disappointed, but no big deal. I love this bike. What do other people think of the new tail?

To me, the overall esthetic of motorcycle design: Form Follows Function.

Therefore, this one's a beauty!

I got the notice for the recall, but my dealer in Austin no longer is affiliated with Brammo.
I called Brammo on the number that was listed in the letter many weeks ago but haven't had a reply.

Anyone have any other way of getting a hold of them?

The information below is available via legacy.brammo.com and I have had good luck via email, though I have found it useful to follow up after a couple of days if you don't hear back.  You may also want to contact Harlan at Hollywood Electrics http://hollywoodelectrics.com/ even if he can't help you directly, he might be able to get you in touch with someone who can.
