Charge an electric motorcycle from my Fusion Hybrid?
« on: September 07, 2010, 07:06:18 PM »
OK, this may be a dumb question so brace yourself. There is a 150 watt power outlet in the back of my Fusion Hybrid. I realize it would take forever to charge an EV from that kind of power source but is it even possible? Though highly unlikely it could come in handy if I ran out of juice within a few miles of a charging station in which case I could call the wife to bring the Fusion.

Hey Jeremy ... check this thread out:

I've never gotten around to testing it with my wee 12v inverter, but chances are, it's going to blow a fuse...somewhere.

That's what I suspected. I may just give this a shot when I get my Empulse since worst case is a blown fuse. My Fusion has 2.4kWh (.96kWh available) of batteries to pull juice from so running the car while charging should not be necessary. But who knows.
